It was now 8 AM. Mitch woke up and looked over to check on Scott. He lifted the wet cloth from his forehead and placed his hand on it. Scott's temperature had gone down slightly, but he still had a pretty bad fever.
Mitch got out of bed and went downstairs to get Scott some water to help him take his medicine. He brought the glass back upstairs and set it next to the medicine on the nightstand. He then got some clothes from their closet, trying to be quiet and not disturb Scott. He placed them in the bathroom and decided to re-wet the cloth. He went over to Scott and carefully removed the cloth from his forehead, taking it back to the bathroom. He wet it and wrung it out before folding it and placing it back on Scott's forehead. Then he took a shower and got dressed.
The other members of Pentatonix were coming over to discuss some arrangements. Mitch figured he should eat breakfast before they got there. He left the bedroom, leaving Scott to sleep. He closed the door and went downstairs to the kitchen. He made himself some food and coffee and ate it while watching Spongebob. After he finished, he placed the dishes in the sink.
Then he heard a knock on the door. He called out, "It's open!" Kevin, Matt, Kirstie, and Avi all walked in and Avi closed the door behind them. "Hey Mitch," Kevin said. He then looked around the room and asked, "Where's Scott? We're supposed to discuss arrangements today." Mitch nodded in the direction of their bedroom. "Oh, he's still asleep. He got sick with the flu last night." Kirstie commented, "Oh god. I hope he gets better." Kevin nodded his head in acknowledgement. "Alright. I guess we'll just have to review them with him when he's better." Mitch shook his head. "No we won't. I'll find a notepad and write them down for him." Before Kevin could reply, Mitch was on his way upstairs to find a notepad and pencil.
Mitch knew there was a notepad and pencil in his and Scott's room, so he carefully opened the door and peeked his head inside to see if he had woken Scott. Luckily, he hadn't. Scott was still asleep in the position Mitch had left him in. He was on his back with one hand resting on his pillow and the other one on his chest. Mitch quietly made his way over to him through the darkness from the blackout curtains and placed his hand on the cloth, seeing if he needed to re-wet it again. It was still wet enough, so he left it. He went over to the desk and turned on the small desk lamp that sat on top of it. He then rummaged through the drawers, taking glances at Scott every now and then to see if he had disturbed him. He hadn't so far, but soon, he accidentally closed one of the drawers too loudly. He froze as he heard rustling in their bed.
He looked back at Scott and saw him moving. Then he heard Scott mumble, "Baby? What are you doing?" Mitch stopped what he was doing and said, "I'm looking for something. I'm sorry, sweetie. I didn't mean to wake you." Scott just softly hummed in response and was about to drift off again when Mitch asked him, "Do you need anything, hon? Are you hungry or anything?" Scott thought about it for a moment and then just shook his head. Mitch nodded. "Alright, just let me know if you need anything," he said, taking the notepad and pencil from the desk drawer and turning off the lamp before leaving the room and closing the door almost all the way, leaving it open just a little bit.
As Mitch was walking downstairs, the others looked up at him, impatient. Mitch slightly shrunk into himself and said, "Found them! Let me just get something for Scott to eat before he takes the medicine. You're not supposed to take it on an empty stomach." He went to the kitchen and found some crackers in the pantry. He grabbed the package and brought it up to Scott, who had almost fallen asleep again. Mitch saw this and knocked softly on the door to get Scott's attention. Scott flinched a little at the noise. "Hmm? What is it, baby?" he said as he looked over at the doorway. "I just brought you some crackers. I know you're not hungry, but you're not supposed to take the medicine on an empty stomach." Mitch said, kissing Scott's cheek and setting the crackers on the nightstand by the medicine. Scott smiled as he did so. "Always looking out for me. Thanks, sweetheart," he said. "Of course. Anything for my baby," Mitch replied. Then he went to leave the room, but turned back around. Scott had just closed his eyes to go back to sleep.
"Scotty?" he said. Scott opened his eyes, only managing to get them halfway open. "Please eat at least some of the crackers and take the medicine." Scott sleepily nodded and Mitch left the room and headed downstairs. He sat down on the couch and said, "Sorry about that. I wanted to make sure Scott has something to eat before he takes the medicine." Kirstin responded, "It's okay. Let's just discuss these arrangements." Then the group got started.
They spent a few hours discussing how the arrangements would go and who would do each part. Mitch was frantically writing down notes for Scott to look over. He held up his hand, motioning for them to stop. The others looked at him questioningly. "I'm sorry, but can I go check on Scott real quick to see how he's doing?" he asked. They nodded, somewhat annoyed. He promised he wouldn't be that long.
He went upstairs and opened the door to the still dark bedroom. He found Scott asleep again. This time, he was laying on his side facing the door. His face was half buried in his pillow, which made Mitch smile. The covers were back over his body, pulled up to about halfway up his nose. The package of crackers on the nightstand was empty and the medicine was open, indicating that he had taken it.
Mitch decided to wake Scott up and ask how he was feeling. He put his hand on Scott's tattooed shoulder and lightly shook it, waking him up for the second time that morning. "Whaaat?" Scott mumbled groggily. Mitch moved his hand to cup Scott's face and leaned down to softly kiss him. "You feeling better, baby?" he asked after pulling away, kneeling to be eye-level with Scott. Scott just slowly shook his head. Mitch stuck his bottom lip out in a pout. "Awww, my poor Scotty," Mitch said, gently playing with Scott's hair. "You wanna go back to sleep?" Scott slowly nodded his head, his blue eyes already starting to flutter closed again due to a mixture of his exhaustion from being sick and Mitch's hand in his hair. "Mkay. I'll let the others know," he said. He kissed Scott's forehead and took the cracker wrapper out of the room.He walked back downstairs. "Sorry I took so long," he said, putting the wrapper in the trash. "How's he feeling?" Avi asked. Mitch answered him, "He's really not feeling well, even though he took the medicine," he said as he shook his head. Avi just nodded and they went back to discussing arrangements.
They finished up and everyone left. Mitch went up to the bedroom to cuddle with Scott. He pushed open the door again and Scott was still asleep. Mitch wasn't surprised. He quietly made his way over to the bed and slid in behind Scott. Scott shifted a little bit, but didn't wake up. Mitch wrapped his arms around Scott's waist and nuzzled his face into the back of Scott's neck, kissing it. He felt Scott's hand come up to cover his and smiled, falling asleep shortly after.
