**A/N: This one may be a bit long too oops
It was the 4th of July, and Mitch wanted to have another pool party and barbecue with their friends to celebrate. It was an impromptu decision, so he hadn't asked Scott about it beforehand. He wanted to ask him before it got too late in the day, so he had to wake him up before noon. If he didn't, Scott would sleep until then or after.
He carefully maneuvered himself out from underneath Scott's arm that was wrapped around him, holding him against his chest. Then he shifted up to sit on his heels and laid his hand on Scott's shoulder, shaking it gently. "Fuck off," Scott mumbled as he turned over, facing away from Mitch now. He hated being woken up. Mitch scoffed a bit. "Wow, rude. You gotta get up though, baby. I need to ask you something," he said. Scott didn't respond. He hadn't fully fallen back asleep yet, but he was trying to. Mitch huffed. "Goddamnit," he muttered as he shook Scott's shoulder again, harder this time.
"Baby.....," he whined. "What? What do you want?" Scott asked, a hint of annoyance in his tone. "I want to ask you something," Mitch answered. Scott sighed and opened his eyes, twisting his body a bit to look up at him. "What is it?" he asked. "Can we have a barbecue and pool party with our friends today?" Mitch asked. "Didn't we just have one a few weeks ago?" Scott replied. "Yes, but I wanna have another one. Please?" Mitch said. "Is there an occasion or something?" Scott responded. He had completely forgotten what day it was. "It's 4th of July, silly," Mitch said, running his hand through Scott's hair. "Oh," Scott said, closing his eyes at Mitch's touch.
It was silent for a little while before he spoke again. "Yeah, we can do that. Do we need to buy anything?" he said. Mitch nodded. "Yes. We need ribs, celery, pickles-" He was interrupted by Scott. "Wait, what do we need celery and pickles for?" he asked. "The potato salad, sweetheart," Mitch answered. Scott just nodded and let him continue listing stuff.
Once Mitch was done listing stuff, Scott hummed and gently pulled him down to lazily kiss him. Mitch loved these kisses because they were just more gentle and sweet. They were a mix between a simple peck and a French kiss. So there was no tongue involved, but one still gently took the other's bottom lip into his mouth as if they were doing a French kiss. Scott rolled to his side without breaking their kiss, thus taking Mitch with him. He then hooked one leg over Mitch's hips to hold him there. These kisses went on for a while before Mitch pulled back. "As much as I would love to keep kissing you, we need to prepare for our barbecue and get out of bed," he said. Scott just smiled and pressed one more kiss against Mitch's lips before letting him go.
Mitch then got up to go get changed, Scott following suit. Mitch changed into a white shirt and black swim shorts. Then he slipped on a black poncho, white shoes, and a pair of sunglasses. Scott changed into a pair of American flag swim trunks and put on a white tank top. He then slipped on a pair of black flip flops and threw on a black snapback. Mitch liked when Scott wore tank tops because they showed off his muscular arms, one of which decorated with a rose tattoo that was the beginning of a half sleeve he wanted to do.
They then went out to buy everything they'd need for their barbecue. Once they got back home, they unloaded everything. They had bought ribs, stuff for potato salad, corn, lemons, and stuff for fruit salad. They also bought some of the holiday sugar cookies that the store had for a dessert option. They texted their friends about the party and let them know they could bring whatever food they wanted along. They got responses right away and began cleaning the house.
Mitch cleaned the inside of the house while Scott cleaned the backyard, using the pool net to get any leaves and sticks out. Once that was done, he went inside and helped Mitch clean the guest bathrooms, kitchen, and basically everywhere except the garage and their own bedroom. Then they began preparing everything. Scott was working on the potato and fruit salads while Mitch worked on drinks. He made some lemonade and iced tea. Both were easy, the only ingredients being lemon juice or tea bags, water, and a little bit of sugar to sweeten it a bit. He then put both drinks in drink dispensers with ice to keep them cold and brought them outside, with Scott's help. They set them on a table that Scott had set up before Scott went back to the salads.
