Mitch woke up and stretched, looking over at his still sleeping boyfriend. Scott was laying on his side facing Mitch and the window, the 8 AM sunlight shining in and making the light freckles across his nose and on his shoulder show up. His hair was messy, and the light scruff lining his jaw was barely past its normal length. His shoulder rose and fell as he breathed at a slow and steady pace. His arm was folded on the pillow while the other arm held the covers against his chest. Mitch reached out and gently ran his fingers over Scott's jaw, wondering how he got so lucky to have him. He decided to get up and go wrap some presents to put under the tree.
He sat up and pulled the covers back, pushing himself out of bed and walking downstairs after grabbing his phone. He stopped in the kitchen to fill Wyatt's food and water bowls before making himself a cup of coffee and heading into the living room. He set the cup down on the coffee table and went to the hall closet to pull out some bags of things that he had bought for Scott. He brought them over to where all the wrapping paper was and sat down on the floor to get started.
He then decided that he wanted to play some festive music to wrap presents with. He picked up his phone and opened Apple Music. Then he scrolled a little bit and found the Christmas music station. He put it on and set his phone down next to his coffee. He pulled out a jacket that he had bought for Scott, put it in a clothing box, and closed the box before measuring out the paper and cutting it. He pulled the longer ends over the top of the box and taped them down. He then proceeded to finish the wrapping paper and tie a ribbon around it. He then stuck on a bow and wrote "To: My Love, From: Mitchy" on a gift tag, peeling it off the sheet and sticking it on.
A few presents in, he began singing along to the songs. He finished quickly and started putting everything away. He decided to do a little bit of cleaning and connected his phone to the speaker, making sure to keep it quiet enough to not wake Scott up. He was singing along to "Holly Jolly Christmas" when he thought he heard movement upstairs.
Scott woke up to music playing and the sound of Mitch's voice singing to it. He looked toward the bedroom door to find it open, and assumed that Mitch had forgotten to close it. He sat up and pushed himself from the bed to go meet his boyfriend downstairs.
Scott walked down the stairs and smiled when he saw Mitch singing and dancing around to the Christmas music, which was currently playing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." He leaned against the doorframe of the kitchen and smirked as he watched Mitch dance around while cleaning. He then walked toward Mitch and came up behind him, hugging him and starting to harmonize with him. Mitch turned around in Scott's arms and stopped singing, looking down at the floor.
Scott giggled. "Why are you looking down at the ground?" he asked. "You saw that, didn't you?" Mitch mumbled. "I did, but I found it cute," Scott replied. He then used two fingers to tilt Mitch's head up and leaned down to meet him halfway in a soft, yet meaningful kiss. When they pulled apart, Mitch blushed, looking down again. "I love how you still blush so much whenever I kiss you. It's adorable," Scott commented, bending down to press his forehead against Mitch's and bump Mitch's nose with his own. "Nooo!" Mitch argued, hiding his face in Scott's chest. "Yesss," Scott countered.
Scott wrapped his arms around Mitch's small frame, kissing his head. "I love you," Mitch said. "I love you too," Scott responded. "Now, let's continue that karaoke and dance party, shall we?" he said. "Definitely," Mitch agreed. They pulled apart and Scott took Mitch's hand, lifting his arm up to spin him toward himself. Once Mitch had spun, he ended with his back against Scott's chest, their hands still connected.
They then started to sing and harmonize again and Scott swayed them back and forth. This went on for a while before they stopped and Mitch looked up at Scott, who looked back down at him and bent his head to kiss his lips. Getting the rest of Scott's gifts wrapped took a while, but Mitch didn't mind. He had started the day with his favorite person in the world, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
