Picnic

It was a sunny, warm day in Los Angeles, and Scott and Mitch wanted to spend it out instead of staying inside. "Babe, what should we do today? It's so nice out and I don't want to just sit inside and waste it away." Mitch asked, coming over to where Scott was sitting on the couch and sitting on his lap.

Scott kissed Mitch's forehead and wrapped his arms around his waist. "I'm not sure. Let me think." He bit his lip and looked nowhere in particular as he thought. "I've got it!" he exclaimed suddenly. Mitch nodded, encouraging him to continue. "How about we pack a basket and have a picnic at either a park or the beach?"

Mitch just kissed him quickly on the lips. "That sounds perfect."

"Alright. I'll start packing everything, you go get ready, okay?" He patted Mitch's thigh to tell him to get up, so he did, and Scott stood up to head to the kitchen. He grabbed the necessary ingredients for sandwiches and prepared them, then cut up some fruit and packed them in containers.

Once that was done, he set the food in the refrigerator for a bit while he got ready. He went upstairs and changed into a simple black t-shirt and black jeans. Mitch had changed into an oversized orange sweater and high-waisted black pants. As he was looking in the mirror, Scott came up and hugged him from behind, kissing the shell of his ear.

"You're beautiful," he mumbled against Mitch's skin. Mitch blushed and smiled. "Thanks, babe. You're pretty handsome yourself." Then they went downstairs together to get the basket packed and ready. Scott took out the sandwiches and fruit and Mitch brought out a bottle of champagne from the refrigerator and two champagne glasses. They carefully packed them into the basket before Mitch went to the linen closet. He reached up to grab one of their blankets, but the shelf was just a little too high.

"Scott, come help me!" he called. Scott walked into the hallway and headed over to him. "What do you need, baby?"

Mitch looked back at him. "I can't reach the blanket," he said. Scott giggled and placed a hand on the small of his back. "I'll get it." He then reached up and grabbed the blanket Mitch wanted before handing it to him. Mitch took it and set it on top of everything else before closing the basket.

"Wait, I almost forgot something!" he suddenly exclaimed before heading back to the pantry. He opened the cupboard and grabbed a box of chocolate pocky that they had in there. He placed it underneath the blanket and near the champagne.

"Ready to go?" Scott asked.

"Yep. We have everything."

Mitch slung the basket over his arm and followed Scott to the front door, where it was opened for him. He giggled and walked through so Scott could follow him out, closing and locking the door behind him. They got into the car and Mitch set the basket on his lap to keep it from falling over. Scott started the ignition and backed out of the driveway, heading to the park.

When they got there, Scott found a good place to park the car. Scott got out and came around to Mitch's side, waiting patiently for him while he grabbed the basket and got out of the car. Once Mitch was out, Scott took his free hand and they walked together to find a nice spot to settle down.

They eventually found a cool, mostly secluded, and shaded area under a big tree and decided to settle down there. Mitch set the basket on the ground and pulled out the blanket, unfolding it. Scott helped him spread it out and once it was situated, they sat down on top of it and set the basket between them.

"You want some champagne, babe?" Scott asked, pulling out the two glasses.

"Is that even a question?" Mitch replied.

Scott chuckled as he grabbed the bottle and held it over the grass next to them. He carefully loosened the cage and set the bottle down, going slowly so the cork wouldn't explode. Once he got it open, he set it down on the grass to let it bubble over. When it was done fizzing, he poured some into each glass and then set the bottle aside.

He then held up his glass and looked at Mitch. "A toast to my beautiful boyfriend, who I love more and more every single day." Mitch giggled and they clinked their glasses, each taking a sip. They set their glasses down in between them and leaned in, meeting in the middle for a quick kiss. "I love you," Scott said. "I love you too," Mitch replied.

Then he opened the basket and pulled out their sandwiches and the container of fruit they had packed. They ate and chatted, just enjoying being with each other. When they finished, they put the trash from their sandwiches into the empty fruit container to dispose of later. Then Scott resituated himself and pulled Mitch closer by the waist, arms wrapped around him and sitting with him between his legs. He turned his head a little bit to press a light kiss to Mitch's cheek before resting his chin on his shoulder.

After a moment, Mitch turned to reach the basket to grab the pocky. "What are you doing?" Scott asked. Mitch didn't answer right away, just opened the package and took out one stick. "Look at me," he instructed, turning his body to be face to face with Scott. Scott looked at him curiously. "So here's what we're doing. The goal is ultimately to kiss while eating this thing, but we have to hold on to our end of the stick the longest. You take one end and I take the other, and we eat it until we meet in the middle. You get it?"

Scott nodded. "I think so." Mitch nodded and put his half into his mouth. Scott took the other end and put it into his mouth. Eventually they met in the middle and Mitch broke into giggles and bit his half off, leaning forward a little further to peck Scott's lips. When they pulled apart, both had smiles on their faces. Scott giggled. "It's fun, right?" Mitch said. Scott nodded. "Let's do another round," he suggested, grabbing the box of pocky and pulling out another stick.

He put half of it in his mouth and Mitch took the other end and they played again. But this time, after the pocky was broken and they each ate their halves, they exchanged soft kisses for a moment after. "God, you're so fucking perfect," Scott mumbled against Mitch's lips. Mitch giggled and kissed him again. "Right back at you, babe."

They pulled apart and Mitch moved back to his spot between Scott's legs, enjoying the peaceful moment. Scott kissed him on the cheek again. They watched as other people spent their day at the park too, some with their dogs and others playing catch. Some were even sitting on a blanket having a nice picnic like they were.

After a while, they decided to call it a day and clean up their area, finishing their glasses of champagne before picking everything up. Scott decided to take the basket this time, and his hand found Mitch's as they walked to their car. They got in and Scott started the engine again, backing out of their parking spot to go home.

When they got home, Scott took the basket to the kitchen to unload everything and put it all away. Mitch was on the couch with Wyatt, scrolling through his phone. When Scott was done in the kitchen, he came over and sat down next to Mitch, on the other side of Wyatt.

"You can move closer and cuddle me, you know." Mitch said. "But Wyatt's right there." Scott replied. Mitch shrugged. "Just move him. The worst he'll do is hiss or scratch."

Scott was still hesitant, but he gently took the cat and placed him on the other side of himself so he could scoot closer to Mitch. He put an arm around Mitch's shoulders and pulled him more against his side. Mitch cuddled close, not looking up from his phone. Scott grabbed the remote and found a TV channel to watch, tossing it aside and watching the screen.

Scott kissed Mitch's temple, keeping his gaze on the scene on TV. He used his other hand to reach over and pet Wyatt, making him purr and stretch. Scott giggled at him and scratched between his ears. He looked back at the TV and pulled Mitch close again, wanting to have his love as close to him as possible. Mitch reached up and turned his head, tilting it down to kiss him a little harder. They spent the rest of the day relaxing on the couch, throwing in more kisses here and there, and just enjoying being with each other.
