Mitch woke up extra early on Valentine's Day. It was one of his favorite holidays because he and Scott could be overly affectionate with each other without questioning or judgment. For the past 2 years they had been living together as a couple, Scott had surprised him somehow, but today, he was going to return the favor by surprising Scott.

He woke up at 7 AM and looked to the side to make sure Scott was still sleeping. He was, as Mitch had assumed, but it never hurt to check. He grabbed his phone from the nightstand and checked Google for the nearest flower shop. He found one that was going to open in an hour at 8. Perfect, he thought. He knew it was a safe bet because Scott would still be asleep for sure. The earliest he ever woke up was 9.

For the first half hour, Mitch just laid in bed scrolling through social media. At 7:30, he carefully slipped out of bed to go get dressed, being careful not to wake Scott up. He threw on one of Scott's hoodies and a pair of black leggings, along with a pair of boots. He fixed his hair enough to look presentable before heading out of the bedroom and closing the door as quietly as he could.

He went downstairs and grabbed his keys and wallet before opening the front door and leaving the house. He headed to the flower shop first. Once he got there, he quickly got out and closed and locked the car. He walked into the shop and up to the front counter to purchase some flowers.

"Good morning, how may I help you?" the lady asked. "Hi, do you have any rose bouquets left? I wanna get some as a surprise for my boyfriend," he asked. "Yes, we do have some rose bouquets left. Right this way," the lady said, leading Mitch to where they kept all the rose bouquets. Mitch surveyed them for a few minutes before he found one.

"I think I'll get this one," he said, pointing at a beautiful bouquet of red and white roses. "Perfect. I'll ring you up right over here," the lady responded, picking up the bouquet and leading Mitch to the counter. Mitch paid for the flowers and thanked the lady before heading out of the shop and to Starbucks. "Nothing better than coffee and flowers to surprise my baby with. Then later, we'll have a little dinner date," he said to himself as he drove.

He reached Starbucks and left the flowers in the car as he walked inside to order their drinks. He ordered an Iced Soy Latte for himself and a White Chocolate Mocha for Scott, since he knew it was his favorite drink there. He patiently waited for the drinks and once they were ready, he picked them up and left to start the drive home.

When he got back to the house, he tried to be quiet, since he was guessing Scott was still sleeping. He managed to get the door open and closed quietly, balancing the bouquet of roses in one arm and the drink holder with their coffees in the other. He brought the stuff to the kitchen counter and carefully set it down before heading back upstairs to the bedroom to see if Scott was still sleeping.

He took off his boots and walked upstairs, tiptoeing down the hallway to their room. When he reached it, he carefully turned the doorknob and pushed the door open to find Scott still sleeping in their bed. He was in the position he had been in when Mitch had left, laying on his side facing away from the door, his upper back exposed. Mitch could see the little freckles littering his shoulders and a little bit of his back with the sun shining in through the window and casting warm rays over their bed.

Mitch walked further into the room and went to the dresser, opening the drawer and uncovering the gifts he had bought for Scott and expertly hidden. He then closed the drawer and crawled onto the bed. He sat there for a while just looking at Scott as he was sleeping. He leaned over Scott's body a little bit to look at his face. His freckles had made an appearance and his expression was relaxed, his lips very slightly parted. Then Mitch lifted his arm and put it at the side of Scott's head, gently running his fingertips over the slightly shorter sides of his hair. He smiled as Scott sighed in contentment and hummed softly in his sleep as he nuzzled further into the pillow, pulling the blanket a little tighter around himself. Mitch then took his hand off and leaned over to press a lingering kiss to Scott's cheek, waking him up.
