Pool Party

It was summer in LA, and the weather was extremely hot. Scott and Mitch were just hanging out at home because they didn't want to deal with the heat. Mitch had been feeling a little lonely lately, since he and Scott were the only people who lived in their house and the others hadn't come over in a while. He wanted to see their friends, so to make that happen, he wanted to have a pool party.

"Babe?" Mitch said, looking away from the TV screen and over at Scott. "Yeah, love?" Scott replied, looking back at him. "Let's have a pool party," Mitch suggested. "A pool party?" Scott asked. "Yes, a pool party. You know, a party where people come over and hang out in the backyard and swim in our pool," Mitch said. "I know what a pool party is, baby. I was just making sure I heard you right," Scott defended. "Can we have one? Please? The others haven't been over in a while and we always have fun with them, so let's have them over! We can even have someone barbecue!" Mitch said. "Yeah, that actually sounds really nice. It's also extremely hot right now, so it would be perfect," Scott agreed. "Yay!" Mitch exclaimed, leaning over and kissing Scott's lips. "So when should we have it?" Scott asked. "Tomorrow, at 2 PM," Mitch immediately answered. Scott nodded and they immediately began texting their friends the information.

They went out to the store and bought the food they would need for their little barbecue and pool party: patties, buns, hot dogs, watermelon, etc. Then, once they got home, they put the stuff where they were supposed to store it and left it at that. "We'll clean the house tomorrow," Scott said. Mitch agreed and they went about the rest of their day. Their friends texted them their answers, most of which were yes, and they made sure they had enough food to cook for everyone. They told their friends they were free to bring anything they wanted to as well.

The next day, as soon as Mitch got up, he began cleaning the house. Scott helped him once he woke up a couple hours later. "Babe, can you cut the watermelon so we can have it cold for later?" Mitch asked. Scott nodded and headed into the kitchen, grabbing the watermelon out of the fridge and setting it on a cutting board before getting a knife from the knife box and cutting into it. Mitch got distracted for a bit as he watched Scott's arm muscles flex while he was cutting the melon into pieces. He shook himself out of his trance and finished cleaning the house before going out to the backyard and cleaning the pool.

Scott finished cutting the watermelon rather quickly and set it in the refrigerator, going upstairs to change into his swim trunks and a tank top after. Mitch came in not too long after, the pool all clean, and did the same. Then he went back outside to clean off the patio furniture and take the tarp off of the hammock, just in case anyone wanted to lay in it. He also had a hunch that he and Scott would be laying in it, so he uncovered it in case his guess was correct.

At 2 PM, people started arriving. Kirstie arrived first, then Kevin, Matt, Avi, and a few of their friends, including Nicole, Luke, Esther, Darien, and Lindsey. "Hi guys! Go ahead and set your stuff down in the living room and then head on out to the backyard. That's where the fun is," Scott had told them all when they arrived.

Everyone was now sitting outside chatting, except for Darien, who was grilling the burgers and hot dogs. Music was playing in the background, a mix of Superfruit, EDM, Beyoncé, and a lot of other artists. "The drinks are in those coolers. Beer is in the one on the left and water and soda are in the one on the right," Mitch said, pointing to the two coolers that were sitting by the sliding glass back door. Scott then came outside with the container of freshly-cut watermelon and a couple bags of chips for everyone to eat with their burgers and hot dogs.

Soon, the food was ready and they all sat around the patio table eating, talking, and laughing. After they were all done, they let everyone who needed to change into swimsuits do that so they could do a group jump. Once everyone was ready, they all joined hands as Scott counted to three, jumping in after. They played around in the pool, some playing with the pool toys and others just chilling on the floats they had thrown in.
