"I'm calling the Vatican to let them know about Emi."
Mephisto was sitting behind his desk, back leaning on his chair as his emerald gaze was trained on the figure in front of him.
"You know what that means, right?"
Amaimon was perched on his brother's desk, having to thank Mephisto's lack of furniture for any guest to sit on. His electric blue gaze was locked on his brother's, his patience almost nonexistent.
"I won't reveal myself." Amaimon grunted, his knee bobbing up and down as he ran his hands through his hair. "I just need her here. Just find her, okay?"
"We will." Mephisto reassured to the best of his capability, setting a gloved hand against Amaimon's knee.
"She hasn't gone far. You don't need to worry yourself."
"She could be fighting for her life as we speak." Amaimon growled, his stomach twisted at the mere thought of it.
"She could also be totally fine. If you think negatively you'll only hurt yourself."
Mephisto said, trying not to shift uncomfortably at his words. He'd never had the job of comforting someone, let alone his own brother and especially not about a girl he was head over heels for. The situation almost made him feel like a normal human being.
"Emi is playing a game of hide and seek with us. It's simply our turn to find her, yeah?"
Amaimon's gaze dropped to the floor. His fists tightened at his side's and Mephisto was almost sure he could see Amaimon break into a million tiny pieces.
"I haven't even made her my girlfriend yet." He mumbled almost too quietly for Pheles to hear. "For all I know she could be cold, scared and suffering right now and I'm sitting here doing nothing."
Hearing Amaimon speak almost shocked Mephisto. He'd never heard his brother talk about settling for one girl, let alone caring for her wellbeing as much as he did for Emi. It made even Mephisto desperately want Emi back.
"Listen," he said, flicking Amaimon's cheek to get his attention.
"We'll find her, there's no doubt about that. If you want to help so badly you can look for her too, but make sure to remain in your animal form. I trust you not to get into situations where you'll be exposed, alright?"
Amaimon's head snapped toward him, a bewildered look flashing across his eyes. "Really?"
"Really." Mephisto smiled, and for once there was not a hint of mischief behind it.
"I promise I won't get caught." He quickly said, almost breaking the desk as he jumped up.
"Whoa, where are you going?" Mephisto called as Amaimon sped to the door.
"To look for her." He stopped midway to turn to his brother.
"Right now?"
"Of course. I already wasted too much time."
Mephisto sighed, rolling his chair back to his desk before nodding.
"Its nice, you know..." He spoke. "Seeing you chase after something other than self amusement for once."
Amaimon offered him a small smile. "It had to happen eventually, right?"
Both brothers shared a silent moment in which thousands of words ran through their heads without the need to be verbalized. Then, almost ephemerally Mephisto's smile widened.
"Go get her."
And Amaimon smiled back, turning around and dissappearing into a puff of smoke.
