Sonnet #2: "The Measure of Love"

If love has no pain then I want it not
for absence of pain means it is not true
for if it is all bright and has no blues
the love that you say you have will soon rot
Love is about giving all that you've got
No matter what shade it is or what hue
Although you're hurt and your heart has bruise
stay loyal even if it hurts a lot
Love is never love when there is no pain
for pain is the proof that your love is real
If you are afraid that you might get hurt
the love that you have will end with no gain
For love does not hide or does not conceal
that happiness goes by without a blur
