Ingrid Lagerthadottir opened her green eyes that morning to meet the light that seeped into the tent she stayed in. The shieldmaiden moved her body a little only to feel a shock of pain run through her body. She groaned in pain. Ingrid peered at the wound. It had healed well. Thanks to Hvitserk and Ivar treating to it, right away.
Ingrid moved her body off the fur rugs. There was no sign of Ivar which means he was preparing to be leaving soon, to go back to Kattegat.
Soon Hvitserk arrived with more herbs to help Ingrid. "Has it healed well?" he asked Ingrid lifted up the side of her shirt to show Hvitserk. "Does it seem okay to you?" Hvitserk looked at it closely. "It healed well. I have some herbs there which I've crushed, you should take them soon."
Before the Ragnarsson could leave Ingrid stopped him. "Hvitserk, I just wanted to say thank you for saving my life. But I cannot forgive you for bringing my dear friend onto the battlefield. I loved Freyja, I saved her and I trained her. She was like the sister I never had."
"I know, my sweet Freyja, I should've stopped her but she was so eager to fight. Not only did I loose her but our unborn child too." "Freyja was pregnant?" "Yes." In that moment Ingrid wanted to scream at Hvitserk, but she couldn't do that to him. He had lost enough. Tears filled in the shieldmaidens eyes as she looked at the sad Ragnarsson. "I hope Freyja is in Valhalla with your unborn child and one day you'll be reunited with them Hvitserk." Ingrid embraces the Ragnarsson in a hug. Hvitserk let the tears fall, the tears he had held in for a long time. With Ingrid in his presence he could open up to her. She was kind and caring, unlike her husband Ivar. "Thank you Ingrid."

Ingrid found herself staring at the town from below her. Here she was back again at the home she had grown up in. "Happy to be going back to Kattegat ástin mín?" Ingrid turned to look at her husband admiring his blue iris's. "Yes." Ivar pecked her lips tenderly. "Good, I cannot wait to see our lille venn. Tell me again is she like me?" Ingrid knew he wouldn't be happy to return to Kattegat to find his daughter gone. But she decided to go along with it, keeping her husband happy. After all he and Hvitserk did save her she couldn't just tell the truth right now it would tare Ivar apart. "She has your eyes and dark hair." "And I presume she has your beauty Ingrid?" "I'm not sure about that, she just looks a lot like you Ivar." Ivar smiled happily at his beautiful wife. "I'm sure she'll just turn out like you Ingrid." He pecks her lips, before speaking again. "A beautiful shieldmaiden just like her mother Ingrid just smiles happily at her husband. Soon someone blows the horn, Ingrid looks around as many of the viking warriors march on ahead.
