She stood at the top of the hill watching Kattegat from below, everytime she returned the village seemed to be expanding all the time. "How do you want to handle this?" Thorunn asks turning to her leader. "We negotiate." "And if that doesn't work?" "We fight." "Well you most certainly are not fighting" Thorunn warned her, given her exact circumstance she was in when pregnant with Siggy. She didn't want anything like that to happen to Ingrid. Ingrid turns to look at her dear friend. "I'll be the distraction then." "Ingrid no!" Thorunn warns as she grabs onto her leaders arm. "Well I need to be part of this battle somehow Thorunn." "Your not being part of this battle" Ingrid ripped her arm from Thorunns grip. "I will and Ivar needs to be stopped Thorunn. Look at the damage and pain he has caused" she says pointing out towards Kattegat.
The two shieldmaidens could here footprints behind them, Ingrid pulled out her sword and turned to face the intruder. "Thought you might need some help." "Hvitserk!" Ingrid ran towards him and wrapped her arms around the Ragnarsson.
The two hugged each other happily, even after everything had happened between them he did save her life, she would forever be grateful. "Is Helga and Ragnhild okay?" "Last time I checked they were." "Last time?!"Gunnar questioned the Ragnarsson. He left his daughter alone in Kattegat to look after Ingrid's baby. And Hvitserk was supposed to look after her, to protect her from Ivar. "Where have you been?" Ingrid asked worryingly. How could he leave the two of them just like that. "With me, young Ingrid" a man says appearing from behind the Ragnarsson. "King Olaf" Ingrid greeted as she bowed her head towards the King. "Please my child" he took her hand in his. "You don't need to bow to me, you are after all a true leader to Kattegat and soon to be a mother." The king looked at her swollen stomach, he believed pregnancy was sacred. He couldn't believe how much Ingrid Lagerthadottir had grown and became a woman. "Last time I saw you, you were a little girl wanting to become a Shieldmaiden." "Tis good to see you King Olaf" she greeted happily. "How in the name of God's did you get help from King Olaf?" Ingrid asked turning her attention to Hvitserk.
"I thank my granddaughter Ragnhild for mentioning me to Hvitserk" King Olaf spoke up for the Ragnarsson.
"Your Gunnar's father?" "Yes." Gunnar stepped forward to greet his father. "Long time son" King Olaf states. "Tis has father."
King Olaf opened his large arms and Gunnar hugged his father. As always his father had the warmest hugs, the man felt like a child again. It had been so long since he had seen his father.
