AFTER THE CHEMO JACK offered to show me around, I agreed so that's what we're doing here.
'the lever is split up in 2 sides, you have the kids and baby part. Only kinds from 0 to 9 can say there. when your 10 to 18 you can stay at the part we're staying at.' He explained
'what room are you in?' I asked
'9'
'I'm in 8'I smiled
'why is that a good thing?'
'8 is my lucky number' I told him
'so this is the crafts room, here you can let your creativity go' he pointed at a colorful room filled with drawings.
'no the place for you' I could say by his face expression
'nope' he chuckled
'you're not creative?' I asked
He shrugged 'I'm not the drawing type'
'then what type are you?'
'the social type. I mostly just hang around and talk with everyone, mostly nurses' he smiled
'that's you're happy thing I see' I smiled back
'yes, I love talking. I used to love sports but now that I have Leukemia I can't do that' he told me
'you also have leukemia?'
'otherwise I wouldn't say it' he winks and I roll my eyes
'anyway, here is the chill-room. There you can chill and sleep if you want to' he opened the door. The whole room was warm and dark. There was a water bed and the smell in there was calming.
'people sometimes come here to just clear their minds or to process heavy news' he told me and I nodded
'do you come here?' I ask
'I clear my mind and other way' he smirks
'and what way is that?'
'I'll show you sometime' he keeps walking.
'and here we have the safe spot. Here are no doctors allowed' he tells me
'cool' I walked in the room that was covered in closets with games, CD's, and more
'a lot of people come here after a doctors appointment' he sits down on a bench
'I get that' I walked to a closet
'hey do you want to play "who am i?"' I asked while I grabbed post-it's
'sure' he made place on the bench
We both wrote something down and stuck it to the others head
'so am I a boy?' I ask
'no'
'am I an animal?'
'no'
'am I a living object?'
'no'
'am I plastic?'
'yes'
'am I a girl?'
'yes'
'am I a doll?'
'yes'
'am I barbie?'
'yes' he exclaimed 'how are you so good?'
'I just simply am' I did a hair flip which made him laugh
'so am I a plant?'
'yes' I exclaimed
'do I have a flower?'
'yes'
'do I live in the raining forest?'
'no'
'do I live in the desert?'
'yes'
'am I a cactus'
'who the good one now' I exclaimed and he laughed
We kept playing the game until Missy came in.
'my ray of sunshine and my chatty boy' she gives everyone a nickname and apparently I am a ray of sunshine
'how did it go' she asks while putting a hand on my shoulder
'it wasn't so bad. Jack sat next to me the whole time so we just talked'
'jack always talks' she chuckles
'I made her sing' Jack says as if it is an accomplishment
'you can sing?' Missy asks and I nod
'a bit'
'a lot, it was very good' he compliments me and I blush a little 'it was just kick-you-in-the-crotch-spit-on-your-neck fantastic'
'friends' I laugh and he nods
'what's going on' Missy also laughs
'we found a common interest' I say
'yeah, movies and series' Jack says
'that's cool' Missy smiled 'well I'm going because it looks like you two are perfectly fine'
'we are' I smiled and then she went away.
We kept talking until I had to go to my room for a nap, turns out that when you have cancer you turn in a baby. You need naps and nurses to take care of you.
'so neighbor, I won't be that noisy so you can sleep' jack said in a lousy British accent
'please promise me you will never do that' I moaned and he laughed
'i'll see you around' he smiles
'I don't exactly have another place to go do I'
'you have' she opened the door
'and what place may that be?' I asked
'your dreams' he then closed the door behind him.
'now that, ladies and gentleman, was an entrance' I mumble to myself as I walk in my room where my mom and dad are sitting.
'why are you smiling?' my mom said in a way that I didn't like
'I made a friend' I mumble and I sit on my bed
'you should be sleeping' she snapped
'no mom, I should be sleeping in 5 minutes now will you be a little bit less worried. It's only making me more tired' I sighed
'sorry' she looked down
'mom is just worried' my dad said
'I know but it's still annoying. Plus you don't have to be worried, nothing really changed from when I lived at home. only that I live here and you need to drive instead of walk if you want to see me' I put the blanket over me
'just go to sleep baby girl' my dad smiled and I smiled back before slowly falling asleep.
I know my mom will always be worried but when she's worried she gets annoying. And then I have to be harsh before she gets back to her normal worrying.
I also know that this is a hard time for her but it's also for me, maybe even more. I know that I don't show it but I am very tired and still sad that I even have cancer.
My strategy is to be extra positive, that will automatically make me positive. It also helps that I have a friend here that is as positive as me. He will automatically make me positive also.
