THE NEXT DAY WAS weird. I woke up in the hospital room that was now my house for the next 2 months. We had a lot of nurses and one lady to just be there of the kids.
Because I am 17 I am on the kids floor. I don't mind because everything is rainbow and has glitters.
The lady that is here for everyone was Jaliyah but everybody calls her missy. She told me that it's because her husband, who dies 8 years ago, always called her that.
Missy is small, fat, black and super cute. She's kind of old but that makes her so adorable.
She told me that doctor Verses will visit me everyday to see how I am and to tell if anything changed. I will have to go down every other day for the chemo. It takes about an hour and I will just be in a hallway with all kinds of people.
She also told me that they will place a sort of machine thingy under my skin. That will be for all the injections. Now I just have them without the pain.
She also told me that I can do everything I want as long as it is on the floor and I listen to my body. I also have to nap every day.
'good morning' a nurse opened my door
'hey' I smile
'you're smiley' she said surprised and I nodded 'normally a person who just heard that they have leukemia is very sad'
'I'm a positive person. My blood is positive' she laughed at my comment and shook my hand
'I'm Ellie and I will be here if you need anything'
'I'm Ava and I will call you if I need anything'
She laughed 'so how are you?'
'I woke up tired, but I have done that for about a week now. But other than that I'm really good actually' she sat on the end of my bed
'good. And where are your parents?' she asked pulling her legs up
'they are home. my mom is still very emotion because of the fact that I have cancer and my dad is with her. she needs my dad more than I do'
'that's a very mature decision' she nodded
'my mom is emotionally stable like an Ikea table, I am used to this sort of stuff' she laughed and then Missy came in
'hello sunshine, how did you sleep?' she sat on the other side of the bed
'i slept weird, because it's not my room' I explained and she nodded
'so are you ready for you're first chemo' she grabbed my hand
'what should I expect?' I asked. she told me to ask her anything so that is what I will do.
'well, you will sit in a chair and the nurse will put a cannula in you're little station. You can bring your phone or anything you want because it will take an hour. You won't feel anything. if the treatment is right you will feel stronger and less tired after the 5th chemo' she explained
'will it hurt?'
'no' they booth shook their heads
Ellie then lead me to the "chemo room" as they called it.
'you want me to pick you up?' she asked but I shook my head
'I'll be fine'
'you will' she smiled and then walked away
'miss Jones' a man asked and I nodded
'is this your first chemo?' I nodded again
'did anyone explain it to you?' guess what, I nodded.
'than my job is only injecting it' he laughs and i smile back
I sat down on a bed. on the right side of me was an older woman who had a tube beneath her nose.
As the man injected the chemo I looked around the room.
It was kind of intimidating, all these people who might die. You had every shape and size. Mostly older people, I was the only teen.
'so you're done, now you just have to sit tight and wait for an hour' the man told me and I nodded
'okay'
I grabbed my phone and started scrolling through Instagram until someone came up. I looked up to a boy with a bald head and a pale skin. To be honest it scared me a bit, how sick he looked.
'hey' he waved at me and then sat down on the bed on my Left. The same man who injected it to me injected it to him. I looked as it has been done.
'hey greenie' he greeted me
'maze runner?' I frowned and he chuckled
'I am obsessed with that movie and you're new' he smiled. It was amazing how he could look so good but still look good and handsome.
Wait what?
'you still have all you're hair, your foot in tapping on the bed and you looked as the chemo was injected' he explained and I blushed a little
'sorry' I looked down
'oh no don't be, I'm glad I can still be looked at with interest' he stated and I laughed
'I'm Ava' I stuck out my hand
'jack' he shook my head
'form Titanic?' I asked again
'no from my grandpa' he smiled
'sorry I'm just kind of obsessed with movie's' I smiled
'ah' he nodded 'what else are you obsessed with?'
'that's a weird question' I frowned
'sorry that was my not-so-smooth way of asking you to tell a bit about yourself' he kept smiling. I like this guy, he's spontaneous and funny.
'oh, well my full name is Ava Julie Jones, I'm 17 years old. My hobbies are singing, watching movies and smiling'
'so you're one of those people' he nodded
'what people?'
'people that have a smile that can make the whole world smile' he stated
'mama mia here we go again?' I asked and he nodded
'you are good' he said and I shrugged
'so you said you sing' I nodded 'do you because you like it because you can actually sing?'
'both'
'can you sing a little something?' he asks and I frown
'not here' I exclaimed
'do we want Ava to sing a bit?' he then yelled in the room
'yes' a woman on the other side answered
'I hate you' I widened my eyes
'I don't care, you have to sing now' he smirked and I rolled my eyes
'but what then?'
'Mama Mia' he answered immediately and I laughed
'okay.
'I've been cheated by you' I started to sing. In the middle on the "chemo room".
Jesus Christ, why is a boy I met 5 minutes ago making me sing? I don't even like singing in public. And why does he makes me feel like we have known each other for years?
Jack, what are you?
