Scarlett sat in the coffee shop on campus with her notebook in front of her, a blue pen in her hand, and her headphones in her ears.

Since she had to wait for Zhengting to get out because he drove them to school today. She was quietly writing lyrics for her project for her music production class which she was to perform for the festival.

She wanted to get it started since she knew she would have difficulty managing her time and also she would procrastinate usually. What could she say? Everyone did it.

Scarlett tapped her pen on the paper as she started to space out. Her mind went to a certain guy who refused to meet her eyes and sit beside her during their classes.

Scarlett knew that Linkai would slip up about the kiss with Ruibin. She didn't blame him though, she blamed herself because she had the power to stop, but she kissed him.

However, she didn't think that Yanjun would get that upset about it. She knew that he had been developing feelings for her, she didn't know how much though. She had made sure to push him away and let him know he wouldn't have a chance with her.

Nobody wants broken goods, Scarlett thought to herself.

But she also told him she would break his heart and she did that the other day.

She then thought of Ruibin who hadn't spoken about the kiss because she explained to him that she would never date him. He was hurt about it at first, but she explained further that she didn't date at all.

It didn't hurt as much, but he accepted it and they were still friends. Scarlett was happy about it, but she hoped that one day Yanjun would too, accept it.

"Scar," Zhengting said waving a hand in front of her face. He'd been calling her name, but she was too zoned out to even realize.

"Jungie," she jumped yanking her earphones out then stood up. "Sorry."

"It's okay. You looked like you were having a serious conversation in your head," he chuckled as the girl closed her notebook and shoved her things into her bag.

"Yeah, I was trying to figure out what to wear for Justin's birthday dinner tomorrow night."

Justin hung out with his other friends on his birthday after school so his and Scarlett's parents decided to celebrate his birthday on a Saturday night and go out for dinner.

It was usual for them to go to dinner for someone's birthday because their parents didn't really have the time to do anything else.

Scarlett looked in the mirror at her appearance. She wore a little black dress that hugged her curves perfectly. On her feet were a pair of black ankle strap faux fur heels. For accessories, she wore a pair of silver floral statement earrings and used a black over the shoulder bag. Her hair was straightened and she wore natural looking makeup with some red lipstick. It was a classic outfit that was elegant as well as sexy.

Scarlett smiled at her appearance before coming out of her room where Justin had just come out of his room beside hers. He was wearing a suit of course, but was obviously struggling with the tie.

"Need help," Scarlett giggled seeing him struggle with the tie. His eyes moved to her and he nodded letting out a frustrated sigh.

"Please."

As she walked towards him, he was surprised her heels didn't make any noise. "I guess I'll help you since you're still my baby brother," she smiled taking the ends of the tie into her hands.

Justin quietly watched as his older sibling fixed the tie for him then smoothed down his clothing. Her eyes were soft and the small smile on her face was gentle and kind.

"There you go," she said as she took a step away from him. "Handsome as ever."

"I love you, Jiejie," Justin said suddenly, making Scarlett look at him with surprise.

"I love you too, J, no matter what. But are you okay? What's wrong," she laughed nervously as she searched her brothers eyes.

"Yeah. I just...I don't know. It's just this is the first time we're celebrating my birthday together in a long time," Justin explained to her. She saw how sad the boy's eyes were and she quickly gave him a hug to which he returned without hesitation.

"I know. I'm sorry I wasn't able to come see you, Minghao. But I'm here now so don't be sad."

"This is the longest jiejie has taken to get ready," Linong commented as the rest of the boys waited at the bottom of the staircase, near the door.

"She really is a Huang," Linkai muttered.

"Well we are going somewhere fancy," Zhangjing pointed out fixing his jacket and peeling off some lint. "I can't wait for all the good food! I haven't ate good food in a long time."

"HEY," Zhengting shouted looking around Chengcheng who was getting his suit adjusted.

"I-I meant fancy food," Zhangjing quickly corrected himself, but Zhengting narrowed his eyes. Zhangjing tried to hide himself behind Yanjun who was talking to Ziyi and Xukun.

"You guys always-"

"No fighting," a familiar voice shouted from up stairs. The group fell silent as they looked up to see the Huang siblings descending down the steps.

"Woah~ The rich kids clean up nicely," Chengcheng clapped making Scarlett laugh.

"Of course we-"

"Mostly Jiejie," Xiao Gui cut Justin off as the two reached the bottom of the steps.

"Ha Ha Ha, very funny," Justin replied sarcastically, helping his sister down the last step.

"Aw, don't be so sensitive, Minghao. You know you look good," Scarlett smiled moving her hand to ruffle his hair, but with the look he sent her she immediately put it down remembering he probably gelled it.

"I think Scar should stay home," Xukun raised his hand, seeing the girl dressed up so much. The most she ever did was a little foundation, but she went full out tonight.

"You couldn't keep me here even if I was tied to a chair," Scarlett smirked before looking over them all. "You guys clean up well."

Her eyes landed on Yanjun who had already been watching her. She let her eyes lingered longer than the rest, but it wasn't long enough for anyone to notice.

"Anyways," she said. "Let's get going."
