third person pov"The conference is in two days and you'll be attending the meetings the days following after so I need you to go over everything in here. Make sure you know it all and you're prepared for anything that might come up. Your father is expecting a lot from you," Mr. Qiu, her father's real English translator and assistant told her. Scarlett knew the man since she was young and he was also usually the one to contact her when she was studying in America.
"Will do, Yihui," she replied taking the thick manila folder from his hands. The two nodded to each other before he exited the suite that she would be living in the next two weeks. This wasn't exactly how she pictured spending her spring break, but it couldn't be helped. This was how it was going to be when she took over the company except it would be more stressful.
She groaned as she placed the thick folder on the table right in front of the balcony that had a view of the Hollywood sign and parts of the city. She plopped down into a chair and flipped the folder open, starting to go over the papers inside of it.
"This is going to be a shitty time."

Three days later, Scarlett wore a black blouse, pair of light (barely noticeable) pink colored capris with a ruffled waist and a bow drawstring, and a pair of black heels. Her hair was placed in a braided bun updo with pieces framing her face and she wore light makeup to make herself look a little more mature. It was a simple business casual look, but it looked very chic and classy on her.
"Did you look over all of the papers I gave you," her father asked as the two of them spoke privately in the hobbie of the building where the meeting was being held.
"Yes, Father," she replied holding the papers along with her own notes in the arm.
"Sir, shall we get going," Mr. Qiu asked coming towards them in a suit just like her father was wearing. He was holding her father's materials and a clipboard where he would write down the minutes for the meeting.
"A moment, Yihui," Mr. Huang said and Scarlett bowed as the two of them walked off to speak to one another.
Although Scarlett was nervous about it, she didn't show it. She controlled her expressions and her movements, thinking hard about how she wanted the others in the room to perceive her.
Scarlett exhaled as she looked down at the floor, keeping herself calm. She knew most of what took place in a meeting, but it didn't stick straight like a script. This was the real thing, you were able to truly be ready for the meeting because anything could happen at all.
"Sorry I'm a little late, Mrs. Lin," a voice said as a pair of black dress shoes came into view in the corner of Scarlett's line of sight. As she looked up she took in his clothes, a black and white suit with a blue tie.
"I'm not-Yanjun," Scarlett nearly screamed when she saw him. His hair was now jet black and he had a pair of glasses on his face, overall, the look was very fitting for him, he looked very handsome in Scarlett's opinion, but she didn't tell him. "Yanjun, what are you doing here?!"
"Xiulan, Yanjun will be your assistant while we're here," Mr. Huang said coming over to the two of them.
"Mr. Huang," Yanjun bowed to the man who nodded his head in approval before looking to his daughter.
"I meant to tell you when we first arrived, but I was very busy." Scarlett nearly opened her mouth to protest, but she knew better than to say anything. If her father wanted Yanjun to be her assistant, she couldn't do anything about it. "We should get going before we're late to the meeting."
"Yes, Father," Scarlett replied as he turned and led the way with Mr. Qui at his side. "I can't believe this," she muttered shoving her papers into Yanjun's chest. He took it giving her a smirk which she ignored, standing tall and following.
"Don't act like you're unhappy with me being around, Crimson. You know you've missed me."
"Just be quiet. I already have a thousand things to worry about and I don't want you to be another one," Scarlett replied as the four of them waited at the elevators, with many other people, for one to come. Scarlett let in a shaky breath of air as she tapped her foot waiting for it. She hated elevators with a passion and had to be in them the past two days since she couldn't run up the many flights of stairs to her suite nor to the top floors of this building.
The elevator doors opened and people began to pile into it. There was just enough room for her father, Mr. Qui, Yanjun, and her, so she had to go in. The men stepped in before her and she made sure to be closest to the opening so she could get out as fast as she could.
Hurry up, she thought as the doors slide closed. She squeezed her hands shut, trying to stop them from shaking. Since the elevator was bigger than usual ones, she would've been comfortable if it was just a couple people inside with her, but with the limited space she felt like the walls were closing in on her.
A little longer...
An arm snaked around Scarlett's waist pulling her back against a solid body. "You look like you're going to fall over, Crimson. You should be more aware," Yanjun whispered in her ear. To his surprise, she didn't say anything nor did she pull his arm from her. Instead, she stayed still in Yanjun's grasp and seemed to calm down more.
When they reached their floor, Scarlett peeled herself from Yanjun and quickly exited the elevator, taking deep breaths of air. She would've kissed the ground, but there were way too many people around and they would look at her crazy.
"Have fun," Yanjun asked raising an eyebrow at her.
"We'll talk about it later," she said and turned to walk away, but paused. "Thank you, Yanjun."
