In the middle of the night, Scarlett laid in the bed staring at the window that had moonlight seeping into the room. She hadn't slept a wink and couldn't. She turned in her bed to see Yanjun's spot was empty which wasn't a surprise. She was mad at him, but she really wanted him sleeping safely beside her.

She bit the inside of her cheek as she sat up in bed and swung her legs over the edge. Her steps were silent as she moved to the door and opened it, she stepped out of her room, nearly closing the door behind her, but she saw a figure sitting beside her door.

"Yanjun," she whispered.

He didn't move so she crouched down beside him, he was leaning against the wall with his eyes closed and his chest rising and falling. Her eyes moved over his peaceful face, but she saw the cut on his eyebrow and on the end of his lips. A bruise was forming on his handsome face and he still had a little dried blood. In his lap was a bouquet of red roses and some sunflowers along with a bag of hot cheetos.

"What an idiot," she whispered, but couldn't help but smile. She hesitated, but moved a piece of hair from his eyes so she could see his face better. Her smile began to falter as she looked at him and her eyes began to water again. Her heart squeezed in her chest and she began to feel a deep aching. Her hand fell from his face as she steadied herself, her other hand pressed against her mouth. She stared at the floor, watching as her tears dropped onto the floor, one after the other.

"Crimson," a raspy voice said and her head shot up to see Yanjun tiredly looking at her.

"Y-Yanjun," she stuttered quickly wiping her eyes, hoping he couldn't see her in the dark hallway, but he definitely did.

"I'm sorry...for getting into that fight," Yanjun said grabbing her warm hand in his. "I shouldn't have-"

"It's okay," she cut him off, squeezing his hand. "You had your reason, but next time well...I don't want there to be a next time."

"Okay. There won't be a next time. I promise," he told her, rubbing his thumb against the soft skin of her hand.

"Good," she nodded before leaning over and pressing a kiss to his cheek. Yanjun turned to stone, he hadn't expected the action, but neither did Scarlett who blushed in the dark. "Let's go to sleep now."

"You sure you can do the lift," Scarlett asked Zhengting, biting her lips out of nervousness. Her, Zhengting, Yanchen, Xingjie, and two girls in their class were practicing their performance for the festival in a weeks time.

"Yeah, I've done it a couple times. Stop worrying so much," he smiled towards her, but she kept remembering how he had almost dropped her (multiple times).

"I don't trust him," Yanjun announced, seated against the mirror of the dance room. He wasn't in their class nor did he have any class that day, but he and Scarlett were going out to eat after class so he decided to hangout.

"I can do it," Zhengting insisted as Scarlett silently thought the whole thing through. She trusted Zhengting, but she also knew that he was pretty scrawny and she didn't want to crush him or anything. She was exactly the lightest person in the world.

"Are you sure? It's not too late to switch partners," Scarlett asked, placing a hand on his arm.

"I can do it. Let's just practice," he nodded and she sighed, but agreed. Zhengting placed his hands on her waist and she placed hers on his shoulders.

"Five, six, seven, eight," the two of them said together and she bent her legs slightly then he lifted her. They did the lift a couple more times before doing the whole dance as a group.

"Scar," Feimei called skipping over when the group finished their practice. Yanjun had Scarlett's duffle bag on his shoulder as he handed her her water bottle.

"Hey," Scarlett smiled, her hand brushing Yanjun's as she took the bottle into her hand. "How's the dance going?"

"Good. My friends and I are still finalizing a couple things, but it's going very well. I actually wanted to ask you something about it though..."

"What's up," she asked unscrewing the bottle and bringing it to her lips. After taking a sip, she screwed it shut and waited for Feimei to ask away.

"Do you think it would be okay if you sang live while we dance? I just think if you did it would be a lot better," she asked shyly looking to the girl. Scarlett almost spit ot the water in her mouth, but quickly swallowed it. "I mean, I know it's a lot to ask and I know it's a really...personal song for you, but I think that the emotion that you put into it will really have an affect so-"

"Yeah, okay," Scarlett nodded her head and the girl's eyes widened in surprise and excitement.

"Really?!"

"Yeah, it sounds cool," Scarlett nodded her head although she didn't really want to.

"Thank you so much, Scar. Really I-"

"Feimei," a boy Scarlett didn't know, called.

"I have to go, but thank you so much," the girl bowed with a smile and ran off.

"I didn't know someone was using your own song for their performance," Yanjun said as he and Scarlett left the dance room. "That's cool. I can't wait to hear it."

"I can," she muttered.

"By the way, you got a text," Yanjun said, pulling her phone out of his pocket. He quickly handed it to her before getting his keys out of his other pocket.

Scarlett unlocked her phone and saw a message from a number she recognized from a couple weeks ago.

Scarlett stared at her phone, she knew who it could possibly be, but maybe it was a joke. Scarlett shrugged her shoulders and blocked the number before locking her phone.

"Who was it," Yanjun asked Scarlett as she slipped the phone into her pocket.

"Wrong number."
