third person povScarlett's head seemed to be pounding like she was at some rock concert. She had been fine in the morning and throughout the meeting, but maybe it's because she was sitting down most of the time. After their meeting, her father and Mr. Qui left the two "kids" to adventure in Los Angeles.
As they did so, Scarlett took notice of some girls whispering and blushing over Yanjun's good looks. Of course, she had been annoyed, but it didn't bother her as much as her body seemed to. She didn't feel very well, but she didn't show it. For her, it was easier hiding that she didn't feel good than hiding her fears.
But still, Scarlett had been very irritated with the girls who were batting their false lashes at Yanjun. Some girl even had the audacity to flirt with him right in front of her and Yanjun flirted right back!
However, after the two of them did a little shopping, the two of them returned to their suite.
"You want to order room service for dinner," Yanjun asked moving to the tv stand that was a couple feet away from the couch. He pulled open the long drawer in the front and pulled out the menu that had been place inside.
"S-sounds good," Scarlett said and went into her room. Yanjun looked up from the menu, hearing the stutter in her words and the weakness of her voice. Her voice seemed a bit hoarse and gritty too.
"Umm...what did you want? They have a sushi plate, pizza, spaghetti, omelettes, and basically any breakfast foods." Yanjun asked, carefully listening to the sound of her voice.
"Just get me a...uh...what was there again?"
"They have a sushi plate, pizza, spaghetti, omelettes, and breakfast foods," he repeated moving towards her door. He came to lean on the frame to hear her voice clearer, but kept himself out of sight while doing so, and tapped the laminated menu on the palm of his hand.
For a fancy hotel menu, you'd expect more, he thought then heard her voice.
"I'll have the...sushi plate," she answer rather slowly. "I'm going to t-take a shower now."
"You want me to join," he asked, but didn't smile about it. He heard her footsteps, then heard the bathroom door squeak shut without her yelling at him or making a smart remark.
She didn't pass his test.
When he heard the shower going, Yanjun slipped into her room and looked around. It was a mess. Her bed hadn't been fixed, she had clothes all over the place, and she had her bag wide open.
The two of them had placed a sign on the knob of the main door so that no one was allowed to enter with their permission, but Yanjun knew Scarlett. Also, he went in her room, when they were on good terms before, she always had her room organized and neat. He also thought back to the rules she gave him three days ago.
Something about keeping the place clean, he thought shaking his head as his eyes scanned the destroyed room. As he did so, something bright green caught his eye in her bag.
Focusing his ears on the bathroom, he heard the water still running and made his way over to her luggage. He crouched down and picked up the green box that had two rows of seven small compartments.
His eyes ran over the small compartments and he noticed that the three first compartments were empty while the rest had homed two white pills each.
Yanjun stared at the pills, they weren't taken the past three days. These must be her sleeping p-
A loud thud made Yanjun jump and look in the direction of the bathroom. He dropped the pill case and jumped to his feet before going and knocking on the wooden door, roughly.
"Crimson, are you okay," he asked frantically. He nearly slammed his fist on the door, but before he could, he heard her small voice.
"I-I'm fine. I just...slipped," she said. "I'll be out in a little while, don't worry. Please."
Don't worry, Yanjun thought, rather irritated. How could she say don't worry when there's clearly something to worry about. What the hell is wrong with her?
His eyes flickered back to Scarlett's luggage and he moved quickly, snatching the pill box from it. He then left her room, closing the door behind him and went to order the food so it wouldn't take too long after she got out of the shower and changed.
A couple minutes later, Scarlett wrapped a white towel around her body while another was wrapped around her head. The bathroom was now full of steam that floated in the air and cover the mirrors.
Scarlett breathed the air in and enjoyed how it felt before going back into her room. She quickly changed into the pajamas she threw onto her bed, post shower, and towel dried her hair. She then brushed the dark, long locks and checked herself in the mirror. A small bruise was beginning to form on her forearm, but it wasn't too noticeable.
"Is the food here," Scarlett asked coming out of her room. Yanjun was silently fixing the table and putting things into place, including their food. "Looks good," she commented coming to her spot.
"Hm," Yanjun replied pulling out her chair. She took the seat and he pushed it then made his way around the table to sit across from her. Usually he would sit beside her and Scarlett knew that.
She became aware of his expression too, he was mad. At what? She wasn't sure. She knew before she went to the bathroom he was fine so what happened when she was in there?
Instead of asking immediately, Scarlett sat unmoving, waiting for him to tell her why he was so upset. He was eating at a fast pace, eating so that he wouldn't have to speak to her.
"Eat your food, Scarlett," Yanjun suddenly said, but kept his eyes on his own food.
Scarlett?
"Why are you mad," she asked pushing her food away from her. Yanjun's head snapped up, seeing her move her plate away from her. He reached over and pushed the plate back into its place before speaking a single word.
"Eat."
"No," she said irritated, and pushed the plate away from her again. "Why are you mad, Yanjun?"
He clenched his jaw, holding in his anger towards. He didn't want to yell at Scarlett even if he was really mad at her.
He dropped his pizza on his plate and grabbed the napkin beside him, wiping his mouth then his hands before throwing it down. He grabbed the pill box he placed in the seat beside him and held it beside his head.
"Why haven't you been taking your sleeping pills," he asked looking at her dead in the eyes. "You told your dad that you've been taking them, but you haven't taken them in three days."
Scarlett stared between him and the case in shock, "why did you go through my things," she leaned over and snatched the green box from him.
"That doesn't matter. Why haven't you been taking your sleeping pills," he repeated his question, firmly. "You obviously can't sleep without them if he checks if you took them. Have you not slept the past three nights?"
Scarlett stared at him, now angry too. "I don't need to answer to you," she said standing up, taking her plate with her.
"Why haven't you been taking your pills? Don't make me ask again."
She swiftly turned to him, anger masking her beautiful face. "I don't like the side effects so leave me alone."
"You haven't slept in three days, Scarlett. What? Do you plan on never sleeping again? You're going to get sick."
"I. Don't. Care," she replied and turned towards her door.
Yanjun wanted to yell at her now. He wanted to tell her to take her stupid pills. She clearly needed them, but she was being stubborn and slammed the door behind her.
Yanjun clenched his jaw as he stood to his feet. He stomped over to the couch and grabbed a cushion before throwing the thing. He knew he wasn't to break anything, but he wanted to.
Instead, he snatched his jacket from the armrest of the couch. He stomped towards the main door and yanked it open before walking out and slamming the door behind him.
