"Are you sure you want to sit in the apartment alone and sober and alone on Halloween?" Hayes asked from inside the bathroom.
"My answer hasn't changed since you asked me ten minutes ago," Micah replied. He was half paying attention to some shitty slasher film that she had put on and flipping through a briefing he was supposed to have memorized for Monday.
"Are you absolutely positive?"
"Yes, Hayes."
"Don't say I didn't try," she said, finally emerging. She was dressed in a tight, light blue mini dress with a small pair of glittery butterfly wings on her back, and what Micah would classify as too much glitter on her face and other exposed skin. "How do I look?"
"Sparkly."
"I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not."
"I assure you that I will be finding glitter all over the apartment for months to come."
She studied him for a moment. "Good."
