"I crave a beach," Hayes declared, sprawling on the couch with her head coming to rest just inches from Micah's leg. He took a breath to mention the beaches near his hometown but caught himself before the words left his mouth. He wasn't sure how the suggestion would be taken in light of what had happened over the past two weeks. "What? What were you about to say?"
"I was going to bring up the ones in Virginia Beach," he admitted.
"I hear they're beautiful," she said, looking up at him.
"They are."
"I was googling them and they're so pretty. I want to go."
He hesitated again. "It can be done as a day trip."
"Really?"
"It's less than a four hour drive so as long as you leave early and don't mind getting home late it's doable."
"I don't have a car, though," she said, deflating. She thought for a moment then turned to him with big eyes. "Do you want to drive me to Virginia Beach?"
"I wouldn't have mentioned it if I didn't have a way to get you there."
"Is that a yes or a no?"
"Would you like to go Saturday or Sunday?"
