Soon after Dominic left, two detectives walked into the room followed by a man in slacks that Sky assumed would translate for him. He could immediately tell that one of the detectives was a shifter, but the other was unidentifiable as of yet to Sky. He ran through a mental list of the creatures he'd yet to come across, and kept a mental list of their attributes running through his brain in order to cross check them with what he observed of the second detective. He also briefly thought about following the detective home to see what kind of information he could gather on her, but he decided to put a pin in that idea until he was off the serial killer suspect list.
"Hello Sky I'm Detective Wyatt and this is Detective Sparks," The shifter spoke. "This is Cameron and he's going to be translating for us today." He gestured towards the man in the slacks who was already seated directly in front of Sky and signing away.
"We just want to ask you a few questions about what happened today, is that okay?" Sky fought the urge to roll his eyes. It was obvious that they were trying to trick him into a false sense of security by treating him kindly and being overly considerate, but that kind of tactic wouldn't work on him. His brother L'aure was far more skilled at manipulation than either of these detectives, and even he had a hard time using his skills on Sky. He nodded once at the detective.
"Can you walk up through what happened at the Silver-Laken house today?" Detective Sparks, the unidentified super, asked in a sweet voice. There was something off about it, the pitch was too high and seemed to reverberate slightly. If he were human he probably wouldn't have noticed, and if he did somehow it wasn't really anything to write home about.
'The family and I were sitting in the living room, getting to know each other. I went upstairs to go to the bathroom and I found the body when I got to the top of the stairs. We called the cops and now we're here.'
"And how do you know the Silver-Laken family?" The question was a formality for the police department. Sky knew that both of them could see his bonding mark, and at least the shifter could smell Dominic's essence running through his veins. He smiled at them.
'Dominic Silver-Laken and I are in a committed relationship,' Sparks smiled back and gestured towards his neck.
"It's very serious then," He nodded again. Sky planned on him letting his guard down by bringing up his partner. "How long have the two of you been together?" He shrugged.
'Time is relative. Weeks can feel like months and years can pass in the blink of an eye. It's useless to define the status of emotions based on how much time has passed.' A light seemed to flash through the detective's eyes, but it was gone before Sky could analyze it. She leaned foreword, resting her arms on the table between them.
"You're relatively new to the area, aren't you Sky?"
"How long my client has been in the city has nothing to do with the fact that he found a mutilated body this morning, so where are you going with this line of questioning detective?" Garrett interjected. Detective Wyatt abandoned the wall he'd been leaning on and came to sit beside his partner.
"My partner meant nothing by the question, we're just trying to get to know the newest member of the Silver-Laken clan."
"My client will only answer questions that are relevant to the case." The detective raised his hands in surrender leaning back in his seat.
