"Feels like we're on the edge right now. I wish that I could say I'm proud, I'm sorry that I let you down, let you down. All these voices in my head get loud, I wish that I could shut them out. I'm sorry that I let you down, let you down"
Lola was watching a movie with Sweet Pea downstairs. He had his arm around her and she was leaning into his chest. She could feel the heat from his body transfer to hers and she was enjoying every moment of it. If you had told her last year that she would be where she is right now, she would have laughed in your face.
Sweet Pea tangled his fingers in Lola's hair as she traced circles on his chest. The two were in a peaceful bliss. Neither wanted the moment to end or for the world to catch up to them. They weren't focusing on the movie, but rather on each other.
Sadly, they were ripped out of their protective bubble as a shrill noise erupted in the room. Lola sighed in annoyance and took out her phone. Jughead was calling her. Why? It was late and he should be with his dad. "It's Jug. I should make sure everything is okay" Lola stated, looking up at Sweet Pea apologetically.
"It's fine" he answered, calmly, while kissing her softly on the forehead. She smiled at him and stood up, answering the phone. "Hey, everything okay?" she aksed, worry lacing her tone. She could hear Jughead's ragged breathing coming quickly through the phone.
"I need to talk to you. Like, now. Can you come over?" he begged, desperately. Lola furrowed her eyebrows in both concern and confusion. "Can it wait until tomorrow? I'm with Sweets and-" Lola began, not wanting to have to leave her haven with Serpent Boy. "Please" Jughead cut her off. Lola paused for a moment to think, but she could hear the urgency in his voice. "Give me ten minutes."
With that, she hung up and turned to Sweet Pea. "I'm sorry, Sweets. Jughead sounds like he really needs me" she pleaded. The last thing she wanted was to make him angry or upset. Sweet Pea stood up and nodded at her. She felt relieved as his strong arms embraced her.
"I can drop you at the Wyrm, I'm guessing you left your bike there since we walked here" she mumbled into his chest. She felt Sweet Pea nod again, not wanting to let her go. Hesitantly, Lola pulled away and pecked him on the lips. She took his hand and dragged him outside to her bike.
Usually she would tell her dad where she was going, but he was rarely home lately. She frowned at the thought of her dad. He was always doing some job for the Snake Charmer. It was like he had forgotten about her completely. Maybe it was her fault for what she said the day she had been arrested. But he was her dad; he was supposed to be the one to fix everything when things got rough. He wasn't supposed to run at the first sign of trouble.
Despite being on her bike, Lola couldn't shake the awful thought about her dad and Jughead from her mind. What if something terrible had happened to him? She left Sweet Pea at the White Wyrm and continued on to the Trailer Park. There were endless possibilities flying through her mind. Was it Betty and the Serpent Dance? Was it FP? Veronica and Archie? She would soon have to find out.
Lola banged furiously on the door of Jughead's trailer. She kept on pounding until the door opened and Jughead slipped out. Lola looked at him, relieved that he wasn't physically hurt, and was about to say something when Jughead grabbed her wrist. Without an explanation, he dragged her further away from the trailer.
Eventually, Jughead stopped and looked at Lola. "Sorry. I should've explained more on the phone" he said anxiously, realising how worried his best friend was. Lola glared at him. "No shit Sherlock. I've been worried sick" Lola deadpanned. Jughead sighed nervously and began rubbing his hand against the back of his neck.
