"They left us alone, the Kids In The Dark, to burn out forever or light up a spark. We come together, state of the art. We'll never surrender, the kids in the dark. So let the world sing "what a shame, what a shame. Beautiful scars on critical veins." Come together, state of the art. We'll never surrender, the Kids in the dark, the kids in the dark"
As predicted, more and more obstacles were being thrown at Lola. Both Jughead and Reggie were refusing to talk to Sweet Pea and would walk away whenever Lola called him over. Their friend group was slowly falling apart as the cracks between then deepened.
On top of all of that, everyone in Sunnyside had gotten an eviction notice, including Jughead. None of them had any family to stay with and they sure as hell couldn't afford a new place.
"I'm sure your dad will figure something out" Lola said to her best friend as they walked towards the White Wyrm. Jughead only groaned I response and stared at his feet as he walked.
"Hey" Lola said, putting a hand on Jughead's shoulder to stop him and turning the boy so he was facing her. "Even if you guys do have to move out I'm sure my dad would let you stay with us" she said, trying to offer some reassurance.
Jughead sighed and gave a weak smile before walking again. Lola knew he was grateful for the offer but he would always worry about others over himself. He was worrying about everyone else in the trailer park, not himself.
Lola sighed in annoyance since there wasn't more we could do to help and the two didn't say any more as they pushed open the doors of the Wyrm.
Lola froze out of complete shock. Before her sat the last person she had ever expected, or wanted, to see again. "Mom?" she said, although it was only loud enough for Jughead to hear her.
A sickly smirk was plastered on Penny's face as she saw the two standing at the door. "Jughead Jones" she exclaimed before turning her head slightly to look at Lola. "Caroline" she then said with a slight nod of her head.
Hearing her birth name sent shivers down Lola's spine but the fact that it came from Penny's mouth made her feel sick to the stomach.
"Did you really think you'd seen the last of me" Penny taunted. Lola turned to Jughead to see his jaw clenched and his fists tightened into balls. "What's the snake charmer doing here? Dad?" he asked, looking to FP for answers.
"No, I brought her in to help us" Tall Boy announced, stepping forward. Lola's eyes widened in shock as she looked at the man. How could he betray them like this? Didn't he know what kind of person Penny was?
"We don't need her kind of help" Lola spat, venom lacing her tone. She glared at the woman who was supposed to be her mother, wishing looks could kill. However, Penny seemed to look at her with a strange softness in her eyes.
"You two don't get a say any more. Not since Jughead broke Serpent law and hurt one of our own kind" Tall Boy growled. Lola's stomach dropped, knowing that they had been caught. But why did he only say Jughead? She had been part of it too.
"Penny was about to tell your dad. Show him Penny. Show them all" he continued, gesturing around the room. Lola tensed up, unsure of how this situation would play out.
Penny smirked at Jughead once more before slamming her arm, now uncovered, on the table. As Lola looked at it, she could see the scar fro where her tattoo used to be.
An uneasy feeling overcame her instantly. She knew that had been the plan but she never knew if they had gone through with it; she ran off before anything happened and she never asked.
"That used to be my Serpent tattoo. Until your son sliced a chunk out of my arm and left me bleeding in a ditch I Greendale" Penny accused. She was still leaving Lola out of it, but why? Sure, she didn't actually cut off her tattoo but she had been there, she had helped kidnap Penny, so why was she protecting her?
"But, I'm still willing yo help the Serpents. Talk Boy showed me those eviction notices. They're legit. Luckily, I can think of about forty one ways to stall the process. And I'm talking years" Penny continued to explain. Lola was only half listening at this point, still trying to figure out why Jughead was getting all of the blame.
"What's your price Penny?" FP eventually asked, speaking up for the first time and knowing Penny wouldn't do anything for free. Penny smirked once more as if she knew something no one else did, which she probably did knowing her.
"Blood for blood. An eye for an eye. I want back in with the Serpents and I want him kicked out" she said, gesturing towards Jughead. Lola stood in shock, not having expected that.
"Oh yeah, And one last thing. I want his tattoo carved off. And I want to Do it myself. With a dirty knife" Penny finished. Lola's jaw dropped open instantly. This was too far.
"You can't be serious!" she yelled, walking towards the woman. "Caroline" Penny began but was swiftly cut off by Lola. She was too enraged to stop now.
"No. Don't call me that. My name's Lola, not Caroline. But how would you know that, right?" she taunted, no longer caring who heard or who found out that Penny was her biological mother.
"You can't just waltz back in here after all you've done to hurt us and then threaten Jug. He's don't nothing wrong. All he's ever done is help the Serpents which is a he'll of a lot more than what can be said for you" Lola ranted, walking closer and closer to Penny.
She crouched down and inched her face forward so her face was inches away from Penny's. "You may share my DNA, but you sure as he'll aren't my mother" Lola said in an eerily calm voice. Before any more could be said, Lola stood up and spun on her heel, storming out of the Wyrm.
