"You look like you're so damn scared. I don't really think you care. You know, you know that our time is through. "It's over when I leave," you said, "we're never gonna meet again." You played your game, it was all for you"

Lola was sitting on a desk at the back of a classroom with the rest if the Serpents. It had been a few days and Sweet Pea still hadn't talked to her; she still had no explanation as to why he broke up with her. It killed her knowing she couldn't hug him whenever she needed to feel warmth, but Toni and Reggie had been a great help to her.

Lola didn't know what Reggie had to do with Sweet Pea's outburst, but the two had grown closer in recent days. It wasn't in a romantic way in the slightest - more like in a brother-sister way.

He had helped get through the school days having to see the former love of her life. Needless to say, he was beyond pissed at the tall Serpent for hurting Lola, but he didn't confront him for her sake.

"Welcome yo the inaugural meeting of the Swords and Serpents club" Jughead exclaimed, a tho it grin plastered on his face. No one really knew why they were there, aside from. Jughead, and that hadn't cleared anything up.

"Which is what, exactly?" Lola asked from the back of the room. She kept her eyes trained on Jughead and the blackboard behind him, not wanting to even glance in the direction of a certain Serpent Boy.

"Well, like I told Fogarty to lure him back to dear old Riverdale" Jughead began, gesturing to the Serpent in the front. Lola smiled at him, happy that he had returned instead of staying home because of some stupid uniform.

"We are a gaming group, sanctioned by Mr. Weatherbee himself. Where like minded students can meet and concoct world-building, role-playing scenarios, inhabiting fantastical heroes and dispatching mythological creatures" Jughead continued. Lola raised her eyebrows at the boy, not fully understanding what he was saying.

"No, but really?" Toni asked, speaking for everyone who seemed to be just as confused as Lola. "It's a club. For us. A safe haven where we can be Serpents, in school hours and under everyone's noses. We're not shedding our skins. We're lying low in the tall grass" Jughead explained happily.

A chorus of approving responses followed as people nodded their heads, satisfied with the answer. Lola sat in silence, beaming up at her best friend. She was so proud of him for letting go of all the tensions and finding a solution. She knew he'd make a great King some day.

The meeting ended quickly as the bell rang, signalling class was about to begin. As everyone began to file out, Lola remained behind. She had a free period and knew no one had class in that room next; she took the opportunity to be alone.

However, her plans were ruined as Jughead approached her with an unreadable expressions. "So are you gonna tell me what's going on?" he asked, pulling out a chair and sitting on it backwards to face her. Lola looked back at him, momentarily stunned.

"What do you mean?" she eventually asked after recovering from her brief state of shock. Jughead sighed at her, leaning his elbows on the table she sat at so they were closer. For a moment, he remained silent, just staring into her eyes as if he was searching for an answer in them.

"Look, I can tell something happened with Sweet Pea. It's obvious. You're my best friend and I'm worried. Just tell me, let me help you" he pleaded while never breaking eye contact.
