i'm not going to lie. it was quiet the whole ride and i didn't want to be the first one to break the silence. petty, i know, but i didn't want to run the risk of embarrassing myself in front of him.

the urge to look at him was strong, but i couldn't because if i did, i knew would be staring the rest of the ride. the love i have for him is immense and dangerous, which i accounted for.

we finally arrived at the dorm and jae held the door open for me, so i ignored the pounding of my heart and walked ahead, thanking him with a polite smile. he trailed behind me and he tapped on his door. "we're studying in my room."

without a word, i entered his bedroom and sat at the edge of the bed that faced the desk. he glanced over at me and sighed quietly, taking out books from his drawer.

"do you want to do it on the bed or the desk?"

hard question. i want to be comfortable, but at the same time, i don't want to seem as if we were, you know. sleeping together? jeez, that sounds so bad. never mind, forget i said that.

i stood up slowly, feeling my feet starting to drag, but as soon as i got up, jae plopped down onto the bed.

"we're both tired. let's just do it here."

oh.

i smiled thinly at him and sank back down into my spot, scooting backwards so my back could rest against the bed rest.

"so," he started, flipping open the book and gripping his pen in his left hand. "what do you know?"

"basics," i answered, peeking over at the book. "i know formal and not much informal."

"we can start with that." he skipped a couple pages with a quick flick of his slender guitar fingers and i would be lying if i said i didn't admire his fingers.

subtly pinching myself on the underside of my thigh, i reverted my eyes back to the book, drinking up the somewhat familar korean characters.

"looks complicated. i'm tired."

he laughed, "we haven't done anything yet."

"i know. that's the point."

he glanced at me, slightly smiling from behind his bangs. "come on, riah. try. try for the person you love, whoever that is."

oh. i knew i flushed when he said that. hopefully, he didn't notice.

he kept his eyes trained on the piece of paper, and me being the creepy fangirl he called me, i stared at him.

the way his faded blue bangs lightly brushed his eyelashes. the way he licked his pink lips. the way his nose sloped down in a perfect way. the way he blinked slowly and how uneven his blink was. the way his whole face scrunched up when he was concentrating.

everything about him was beautiful. he was breathtaking. he was unreal.

until those perfect lips moved to form my name to bring me back into reality.

"riah! are you okay? you're spacing out," he observed, placing his pencil down to focus on me.

i coughed, looking anywhere but him. "yeah."

"we don't have to do this tonight if you don't want to."

"the thing is, i really want to learn korean, but i'm kind of distracted."

did i really just say that?

i sucked in a breath.

"distracted? by?"
