My Dads Best Friend

Chapter 20

Luke's POV

I carry Hayley into the house and decide on bringing her up to her room. I lay her on her bed and take her boots off and then set them on the end of the bed.

I then run to the bathroom and wet a small towel before bringing it back and putting it on her forehead. I just sit on her bed and look at the beautiful girl in front of me.

I look at her for a few minutes before looking out the window and see Blaze eating some grass that is peaking in the arena from the fence.

I get up and go downstairs making my way downstairs and outside to get Blaze.

I make my way to the jumping arena and get Blaze leading him out and back to the barn. I untack him and put him back in his stall.

I put everything away and decide to feed the horses early so I can stay up at the house for the rest of the day. So I give them hay, and their grain and any supplements needed. And then start back to the house.

I get up to the house and see the dogs all laying outside. "I swear it's like I never see you guys." I say to them chuckling a little bit.

I let them inside and they all go straight to the living room to their beds. I make sure they have food and water which they do and then head back upstairs.

I enter Hayley's room and get on the bed with her since there isn't a chair I can pull up. And I just can't take my eyes off her.

About 10 minutes later as I'm doing some work on my computer Hayley turns to her side and snuggles up closer to me. I look down and just smile.

I'm so happy right now. I smile whenever I'm around her. I really fell for her but I can't tell her. Her father and brother would both kill me. I mean Tim and I have been friends forever.

Me with his daughter, wow. He would shoot me. I can't say I wouldn't do the same if I had a gorgeous daughter like he does and he fell for her. But I don't know if I will ever get to have kids. Who would ever love me.

I look down at Hayley at the thought of that. Her holding our daughter. Her walking down the aisle in white meeting me at the end. Us together. It won't ever happen though. I think that's what kills me the most.

I look at my watch on my wrist seeing it's 10pm. I decide to go to bed. Closing my eyes, and setting my computer aside. Snuggling up with Hayley kissing her forehead before going to bed.

Hayley's POV

It's early in the morning when I wake up, and when I do I'm shocked to see who's next to me in bed. Holding me in their arms. It's Luke.
