Chapter 24

Hayley's POV

I wake up the next morning in my own bed.
I'm not sure how I got here though because I vividly remember what happened last night.

I push the thought aside and get out of bed and start my normal routine. After my morning routine is done and I'm dressed and ready for the day I head down stairs feed the dogs, grab a granola bar and head out go the barn.

I quickly do my part of the morning chores because I plan on jumping Liberty one of the mares I'm reselling.

I quickly get finished and by the time I'm bringing the grain/supplement mix to the last stall Luke is walking into the barn with a smirk on his face.

"Hey Hayley. Let me do that for you. You go get ready to ride." He says taking the bucket in his own hands.

"Thanks Luke." I say before going to the tack room and getting what I need.

After bringing that all out, I went into the pasture to get Liberty since I keep her outside. She isn't that far away luckily so the walk isn't too bad.

I halter her and bring her in. Put her in the cross ties and groom her quick before tacking up. After I'm all tacked up I double check everything grab my helmet and walk out to the arena.

When I get out to the arena there are a few jumps I need to lower just because of the level that Liberty is at right now. But after that I hop on and start warming her up.

After about 20 minutes of warming up with circles and poles I start the course and think I've cleared it but on the last jump which is the lowest height we hit the pole and it comes down.

As I'm about to get off I see Luke walking in. "Stay on. I'll get it," he tells me, I look down and smile and think to myself 'somethings different about Luke. But it's a good different. And one that I like.'

Luke's POV

I'm watching Hayley. I see as she almost clears it but knocks the last poll down. I jog up but slow down when I get closer so it looks like I was already on my way up.

I see Hayley about to get down to pick up the poll so I yell over "Stay on. I'll get it," I see her look down and smile. I know she's thinking about something but I don't know what.

A part of me hopes she's thinking about me though.

Hayley's POV

I do the course and continue to make silly mistakes. I know it's not Liberty who is causing them. It's me. I end up having Luke lower the jumps so I can at least get one clear round in. And finally after about two hours. I get a clear round.

"Okay. Liberty is a sweaty mess as are you. I think you guys have done enough." Luke says to me coming over.

I know he's right so I get down and put my stirrups up.  And we head into the barn.

After getting back to the barn and untacking Liberty I decide to hose her off as she is really sweaty.

Luke says he'll help me. We put her in the cross ties and start hosing her down.

At some point with all of this we get in a water fight because I accidentally sprayed Luke. And he claims it was on purpose so he got the hose and sprayed me.

Thankfully I get to the faucet and turn it off, but he tackles me into a pile of hay. So here we are now. Luke hovering above me. Holding himself up with his arms, which are on either side of my face.

"Can I make you dinner tonight?" He asks.

A/N: hey guys! Finally an update! Sorry it took so long just wanted to make it as good as possible for you. Although I do feel like I was kinda rushing the end a little bit. Let me know your thoughts on that.
