When Emmy walked up to the group of men who stood by the gate, they all averted their eyes and could not look upon her. The Emmy they thought they knew and the Emmy that they saw fighting, were too different. It was too much for them to accept that the Emmy that they knew and Emmy that they see in front of them, were the same person.
"Are you hurt, Lady Emmy?" Dominic asked as his hard eyes scanned Emmy's body for any injuries. He was the only man there who could still stand to look at Emmy as if she was still human.
"I am fine." Emmy said as she entered through the gates. "Crown Prince Cael, I suggest you ride out soon to your King Father to report what happened here today. Should Lord Edie of Maru reach King Stephen and spreads his lies, Lord Seoras and the people of Ceco will fall into his schemes."
"Of course." Cael said as he nodded his head in agreement. "I have already sent a secret message to my King Father to not grant Lord Edie an audience until I arrive to the capital. I will report today's event's to him and we will thoroughly investigate before any judgments are made."
"Good." Emmy told him as she lead everyone back to the inn. However before she entered the inn, Cael stopped her.
"Lady Emmy." Cael said as he reached out to grab her hand. Emmy quickly moved and turned around so he wouldn't be able to touch her. "May I speak to you alone for a moment?"
"Whatever words you have to say, you can say it here." Emmy told him. "I do not want there to be any misunderstandings between me, the Ceco soldiers, Lord Seoras and you."
Everyone heard Emmy's words, however they still took one step back to give them some space to speak, even though they could hear Emmy and Cael speak. Cael's face lit up red with embarrassment before he swallowed his pride and spoke the words that have haunted him for several days.
"Lady Emmy." Cael began to say. "For my transgressions against you. I apologize. For any ill feelings you may have against me. I apologize. For any offence I may have caused you. I apologize. I hope, one day, you will forgive me and give me a chance to..."
Cael suddenly lost his courage as he could feel the eyes of several men stare at him. He knew they were in disagreement with his next words, however he couldn't help the way he felt. Emmy was the only woman he has ever met who didn't fawn over him. Who didn't want win his favor. Who didn't treated him as if he was the sun and the sky. In fact, she treated him as if he was air and dirt. As if his existence didn't matter. As if he was an annoying fly. Who would have thought that he would fall in love so quickly, with a woman he tried to kill.
However, in the end. What he felt for her was real. It was something he never felt before. I was something that he could not hide any longer. To him, Emmy was perfect, even with her flaws.
"Make it up to you. With my actions, I'll show you that I'm not the horrible person you think I am. And hope that one day you'll forgive me and give me a chance to stand by your side... As your man."
Emmy's cold mask did not waver as she listened to his confession. Her heart was not moved by it. He did try to kill her. Why would she be attracted to someone who was foolish enough to believe the rumors about her and try to kill her. Now he regrets his actions, but she could not trust someone like, Prince Cael.
"I am already Lord Seoras's woman." Emmy told him straightforwardly. "I am also the woman of Sir Gengrick."
Her announcement made the already quiet group even more quiet. Their head exploded with the news that Lady Emmy has made Lord Seoras and Sir Gengrick her men. Being in a polyamorous relationship was accepted in their culture, however it was hardly practiced, unless they could afford to support their multiple partners. It was usually the rich and nobility who had more than one husband or wife. But they never thought that Lord Seoras was willing to share Lady Emmy. He was quite protective of her and spoiled Lady Emmy. However, to the point that he shared her with Sir Gengrick, it was unbelievable to them.
"I---" Cael began to say before his stopped. He too was surprised that Lord Seoras was fine with Lady Emmy sleeping with a subordinate. However, if Lord Seoras was willing to let Lady Emmy be with Sir Gengrick, maybe he'll let Cael be apart of her life too. "I am willing to be apart of whatever you're willing to give me."
"And if I give you nothing?" Emmy asked.
"Then I'll spend the rest of my life proving myself to you. That I am worthy to stand next to you. Just like Lord Seoras and Sir Gengrick, I am willing to lay my life down for you." Cael said as his eyes pleaded with Emmy to believe him. "If you're unable to believe my words, then believe my actions."
Cael immediately bowed to Emmy then left with Price who looked at Emmy for a moment before leaving as well. Emmy did not watch Prince Cael leave, nor did she wait for the rest of the men to follow her back into the inn. She immediately sat down in her chair that she was just sitting in that morning and ate the already cold food that was made for her.
"Lady Emmy." Simon said as he wiped his forehead with a towel before setting down a fresh plate of hot food. "You'll get a stomach ache if you eat that. Here's a hot plate for you."
Emmy let Simon replace the cold food with the hot food and she ate the food without a word. Simon quickly left and saw the rest of the men walk in, followed by Dominic.
"How did it go?" Simon asked as he wrung the rag in his hand tightly.
"Well. The Beast Master Wizard is dead." Dominic told him. "I have the Elder's spreading the word to the rest of the village that we are safe and the Wizard is defeated by Lady Emmy and the Ceco soldiers. If not for their help, we would have perished just like the other villages."
"Thank the Gods!" Simon shouted as he quickly went behind the bar to pull out several flagons of beer. "We should be celebrating!"
The soldiers could only stare at Emmy as she ate her breakfast, however with what they witnessed happened to Marinette, they had no appetite to eat. Even those that only heard the story, lost their appetite as well.
"I'll have a beer." Emmy said as she wiped her mouth. "I'm quite thirsty."
The rest of the men could only sit down and stare at the beer in front of them with a solemn face. How could their Lady stomach eating right after what just happened, as if everything that just happened, didn't happen at all?
