Chapter 20: Prom

The week quickly passed by. Left and right, people were being asked to prom. All of my friends were asked. All of them except me. Even my brothers have dates for prom.

Jordie told me to keep my head up, that a boy will come around sometime soon.

Surprisingly, I was nominated for prom queen. I thought only seniors can be nominated, but I guess I was wrong. None of my brothers were nominated for prom king, but Asher was.

Right now, Jordie, Micheal and I are sitting in Jordie's car, heading towards the mall. I told her I could walk, but she wouldn't let me. It's only a 10 minute run!

We got out of the car, and headed into the mall.

"Let's go in there!" Jordie yelled, and ran in.

She kept trying on dresses, meanwhile I couldn't find any I liked. I haven't worn a dress in years.

"Has Asher asked you to the prom?" Micheal asked me while we were waiting for Jordie to come out of the changing room.

"No, why would he?"

"He told everyone not to ask you to the prom," Micheal tells me. "I thought he was going to ask you."

"So I'm not going to go to the prom," I whisper.

"I'm sorry," Micheal says.

"I just wanted to get to act like a girl for one night. Just one night, I wanted to have fun, maybe with a guy. But no, he has to ruin it. Like he ruins everything."

I walked out of the store, and started to run home. I unlocked the door, and ran into my room with tears. I went into my treehouse, and sat there for the rest of the night.

"Abi?" Tyler says, walking into my room. He sees me in my treehouse, and comes in.

"What's wrong?" he asks me.

"Asher.. he told everyone not to go to prom with me," I manage to get out through my sobs. I look at Tyler, and he doesn't look surprised.

"You knew he did this, didn't you?" He looks at me with a blank face. I slap him.

"GET OUT!"

He looks down and walks out. I cry even more, none of them want me to be happy. I stay in there the rest of the night, and all of Sunday. The only times I left my tree house was to go to the bathroom, or to get food. Of course, Asher invited Jade over, and I had to hear her disgusting laugh from outside my tree house. I bet he invited her to prom.

Like a normal Monday, I ran to school. I wanted to get away from my brothers, so I didn't have to talk to them. That afternoon, I went to Jordie's house house and we hung out. She understood why I left, and just like me, she was angry at Asher.

The rest of the week was crazy, all of the girls were talking about the prom which was being held on Friday night. Jordie came over to my house on Friday and I helped her get ready.

"You look beautiful, Jordie," I tell her. It's true.

"Are you sure you don't want to come. We can get you a dress quickly!" Jordie protests.

"I don't want to be the third wheel, it's fine."

A few minutes later, Micheal came and picked her up.

"Have fun!" I said, waving to my best friend.

I went to the kitchen, and took out a bag of chips. I then headed to my room.

When I entered my room, there was a beautiful purple dress laying on the bed. It was a dress I would have chosen if I was going to prom. On top of a dress there was a note.

Prom?

Xoxo Asher
