English has never been my best subject, I've always preferred something math based. Only because English requires a large and eclectic thought stream, and with all the thoughts I hear it can become a whirlwind of opinions, and personally I can't stand it.

This problem is only intensified with Pete sitting next to me, because now it isn't just other people's thoughts that are racing, mine are as well.

I do my best to stare straight ahead and focus on the lesson, we are discussing Peter Pan by J.M Barrie.

"Alright for these discussion questions you will work in pairs," Mrs.McMeal announces, the rise in her voice suddenly gaining everyone's attention.

I immediately turn toward Ana, we are partners for everything. Everyone else in the school thinks we were freaks, so there's never any real question.

"Now now don't choose, I'm choosing for you," Mrs. McNeal interrupts. "This will show these kids they don't run the school," she thinks to herself.

She's always thought the kids of this school are undisciplined imbeciles, and that we all need attitude adjustments. Typically she takes out her anger in the form of three page essays, but I guess she's decided a different approach is necessary.

She carefully picks up a clipboard and begins to call out names.

"Wow I wanna be paired with that new guy," half the girls in the class think. I choke back a bit of bile in my throat. These girls have this amazing habit of surrounding any new boy that was easy on the eyes. They were like a flock of seagulls fighting over a fish. Except this battle is played through mind games and lies, gotta love high school.

"Arabella and Pete"

I freeze.

"Ugh of course the freak gets him," The seagulls think, staring daggers at me.

Part of me feels proud, finally I am dangling something over their pretty little faces. The other half of me is petrified, I know nothing about this boy, yet his very presence makes me shiver.

"You may begin." Mrs.McNeal says, changing her attention from the class to a stack of papers that need to be graded.

I turn to Pete, "Have you read this?" I ask. He had only gotten here today, I figure he hasn't.

"Yah, I found it pretty interesting." He says smiling at me.

"Well lots of people did, hence the Disney movie, and the very prevalence of it today." I retort, giving him a fake smile.

"Okay then miss sass-a-Bella."

I roll my eyes, "let's just get started on these dumb questions. Question one: 'what is Wendy's importance to the story? And what does she symbolize?' I think this answer is pretty simple."

"Then what's the answer?" He asks.

"She represents aging, she knows she has to grow up, but fights it as best as she can. I guess you could say she is all of us, we all fear aging but in the end we learn to accept it."

"Eh I think she's just stupid. Just grow up. Why not, give it up already."

I stare at him in shock.

"And besides her crush on Peter was weird anyway she needed to grow up," he continues.

"I felt bad for her, she loved him and he clouded her mind never answering," I fight back.

"Eh whatever, she was just clouding his head, he had pirates to fight."

"Wow you are putting so much thought into this." I sneer at him.

"Doesn't matter any way this whole story is bull." He says, focusing his attention to the ceiling.

"Hmm nooo mermaids and fairies are super real, and of course a magic flying boy!!!!" I'm getting sick of his opinions.

"You'd be surprised," he says, a sly smirk spreading across his face. He looks me in the eyes, as if I know exactly what he's talking about.

Every fear I previously had comes rushing back, he knows. He must.

The bell rings, I run out of the class. Ana calls my name, but I don't listen.

What just happened.
