No. No. No. This man was a liar. I had better sense to trust the guy I loved over the psychopath in front of me."You're wrong." I sneer at him, trying to stay calm. "I don't know who you are, but I know Peter better than you ever will and he is a good person. Hook get me and my sisters off this damn ship." I stormed toward the door, but I hear no footsteps behind me. I turn around to see my sisters gaping at me.
"Are you crazy?" Ana demands, "He just told us our life story and you call him a liar? Listen just because your boyfriend is evil doesn't mean-"
"I'm not blinded by love if that's what you mean. I can still think straight, and trusting a man we just met doesn't settle in my common sense pool."
That's when I realized something. I couldn't read his mind.
I saw a sword on Hooks desk and in an instant I grabbed it, and charged at Drew, holding the sharp blade up to his neck. My sisters jumped a bit but didn't try to stop me. They knew I wasn't irrational, and that I needed to do this for whatever reason. Plus Sam could just move the sword whenever she wanted.
"Why can't I read your mind," I interrogate him.
"I-I'm n-not s-sure," he stutters,"the kingdom knew of your powers but didn't understand them."
"Are you magical?" My gaze became more and more intense with each passing second.
"Kinda, I was born from the spirit of nature. Like most things in Floristian, except the villagers. I-I however was a farmer and a p-planter."
His eyes begin to water. I wanted to believe him, but something inside of me told me I couldn't. Immediately I dropped the sword and turned my attention to Hook.
"Get me off this ship." I requested, a sense of urgency in my voice.
"Go ahead, we're near shore, you can swim back for all I care."
I give him an evil glare and run out the door, carefully making my way out to the ladder we first climbed onto. Part of me knew my sisters would be fine. I may not trust Drew or Hook, but I trusted their intelligence.
Once at the ladder, I nimbly climb down and dive into the ocean. Not caring about bloodthirsty mermaids.
I swam for what felt like forever. The distance was a lot greater than I expected. Fatigue threatened to crawl into my body, but my focus shielded it out.
Just as the sun was starting to set, I plop onto the beach, out of breath and numb from exhaustion.
Dragging myself a little farther up shore, I lay down on the sand and admire the sunset. Thoughts of him came rushing back.
He was innocent. I just knew it. The others just don't know him as well as I do. They can't see what I can, and may never.
In my rush I had completely forgotten that Drew had mentioned a woman. "He helped her." Who was her? And why did something inside of me shiver despite not even knowing the woman's name.
"Arabella!" A voice behind me calls, Peter.
