I sprint to my next class. Thoughts whirling in my head.

"Why couldn't I read his thoughts?"
"Where did he come from?"

Suddenly I remember the mysterious stranger that came all those years ago.

No. It couldn't be him. He was taller and had a broader stature, but still, there could be more than one like him.

I arrive at my class and walk in.

"A little late are we Miss Rose?" Mrs. Rocket says giving me a fake smile.

"Yah sorry I got into a little bit of trouble haha," I sheepishly smile and head to my seat in the back of the class.

Physics is a fun class to me, there's something about combining math and real life that makes the world feel somehow tangible, not just a cluster of thought. Half the time I find myself laughing though, because Sam's abilities could break any of the "laws" we learn about. It just reminds me how much I differ from the rest of the world.

Eventually the bell rings and I head to English. My eyes scan the whirl of people in the hallway, searching for the "my thoughts are some how protected" boy. Fortunately I don't cross his path.

I walk into my class and take my usual spot toward the back. Ana walks in about two seconds later and takes the seat to my left.

"Heyyyyy," she says plopping down in her seat. "Gosh I needed you in Pre-Cal, Alice Graceson was super sad and I just needed to know why, she's always so happy. Heck she's like a chihuahua on crack, anyways what's up? Heard ol Mr.Green almost had you locked up."

"Haha nah talked our way out of it, I just told him what he wanted to hear. Hey on my way back I-"

That's when he walks in.

I hadn't really gotten a good look at him before but now I notice his narrow, yet masculine features. He's wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans, and has dark, ever present eyebrows, but not in a weird caterpillar sense.

"Nice eyebrows son," I mumble, laughing to myself, trying to make light of the situation.

I feel nervous, and I can't tell if it is due to his appearance or the fact he can kill me at any second.
I've never really been a big fan of emotions, that's Ana's forte.

"Ahhh class we have a new student!!" Mrs. McNeal announces, turning away from the white board.
"His name is Pete Panowski."

The class gives a chorus of mandatory, polite hellos.

"Alright now Pete why don't you take a seat next to Miss Arabella, she's a lovely girl and student." Mrs. McNeal says smiling and pointing to the seat directly to my right.

"Wow thanks McNeal, what a wonderful addition of teacher plays student match maker," I think to myself.

"Hi I'm Pete," He says sitting down and reaching for my hand.

He has a British accent, one that easily sticks out amongst everyone's southern accent. Not much variety in South Carolina, except for my sisters and I, and of course the tourists in the summertime. The girls will be all over him within days once they've discovered this. I suppress a weird feeling of jealousy and stick out my hand.

"Arabella, nice to meet you," I say giving him a semi fake smile.

This was going to be a long class.
