Early in the morning, Jeremy texted her:

One of God's promises:

Romans 1:16-17

God promise salvation to all who believes in his son.

I am at the airport now flying to New York.

In where she replied:

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Have a safe trip.

Ibinaba niya ang hawak na Bible at inisip ang laman ng text niya kay Jeremy. It was a challenge to read the scripture and find a context that was actually good for Jeremy. Tingin niya ay para sa kanya ang text niya dito. Hindi niya na matandaan kung kailan siya huling nagkumpisal sa pari. Now, the Bible was talking about confessing directly to God.

Tinitigan niya ang Biblia na nakababa na sa kama. Para iyong may apoy na nagniningas ngayon sa paningin niya. It wasn't burning her but, instead, getting her attention to pick it up again and read. Tumingin siya sa pinto ng banyo, she wanted to pee. Tumalon siya sa kama at pumasok sa banyo. Paglabas niya ng pinto ay parang nakatingin pa rin sa kanya ang Bible.

Naupo siya sa gilid ng kama at tinitigan iyon. Tumunog ang cellphone sa tabi nito. Binasa niya ang text. It was Jeremy again:

Isaiah 54:10

My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed.

Off to go. 'Will call you upon my arrival in New York. Have a sweet night, baby.

Tinitigan niya ang text at isinaulo ang Bible verse. Hindi rin nakaligtas sa kanya ang endearment. Marahan niyang inilapag ang cellphone at kinuha ang medyo makapal na Biblia. Bigay ito ng lola niya sa kanya bago ito mamatay. It had been fifteen years at ngayon niya lang binuklat although dinadala niya ito kahit saan siya pumunta at lumipat. She even brought this to and from Canada.

She opened the book and read context per context as per her inspiration. Then she closed and opened the book and see where it land.

She read another verse in Psalms 1:1-3. Then texted Jeremy: God promised blessing for all who will delight themselves in His Word.

She kept on reading and landed on 2Corinthians 5:17. She texted Jeremy again: God promised comfort in our trials. He has a plan, and one day we will be able to share the comfort we receive.

Biglang nag-text si Jeremy: Way to go, baby. Now start reading Jesus's promises in his four gospels, start with Mark and John, then finish off with Matthew and Luke. I'll wait for your take on those. And oh, do not forget to ask God for wisdom. It is given abundantly to those who pray to have it. I'm really off and turning this phone off too. Laters.

Napalunok siya sa nabasa sa text at muling tinitigan ang Bible. Hindi naman kaya siya niloloko ni Jeremy?
