SEVEN MONTHS LATER

"Are you sure you feel okay?" paulit-ulit na tanong ng asawa niya habang ikot ng ikot sa kama niya. Galing ito sa nursery at sinilip na naman si David for the nth time mula nang ipanganak ito twelve hours ago thru cesarian operation.

"Maupo ka nga dito, nahihilo ako sa'yo," saway niya dito.

Tiningnan muna siya ng asawa bago naupo sa kama sa tabi niya. Hinawakan nito ang kamay niya at hinalikan. "I love you."

"I love you too." The remaining seven months of her pregnancy had been great. She never felt any pain anymore na gabi gabi ay pinagdadasal nilang mag-asawa bago sila matulog. He was even making love to her at times very carefully. Sa OB lang siya nakikipagkita pero hindi siya nagpa-ultra sound kahit kailan kaya ngayon lang nila nalaman na lalaki ang ipinagbuntis niya. The name they picked was either David Solomon or Hanna Mary. At dahil lalaki, David won.

Napaupo ng tuwid si Jeremy nang makarinig sila ng katok at pumasok si Uncle Danny. Dinagdagan ng asawa niya ng unan ang likod niya para hindi siya masaktan umupo.

Pumuwesto ang doktor sa kabilang gilid ng kama. Tumikhim ito. "Kung makatingin kayo parang kakainin n'yo na ako."

Walang natawa sa biro nito. They were waiting for their findings about the cancer because they would schedule the chemo as soon as possible. She knew she could take it kahit kapapanganak niya palang. She felt so alive and strong.

"Alright, this must be because of the herbal pills. Or more probably God. Of course it is Jesus."

Para siyang magkaka-hydrocephalus sa pambibitin ni Uncle Danny. "It's always Jesus," wala sa loob na nasabi niya.

Ngumiti ang doktor. "I've got the result of the findings, it's negative."

Biglang bumaling si Jeremy. "Left ovary," sabi nito. "Baka sa kanan kayo tumingin."

"We looked at everywhere, left and right, uterus, all parts of the abdomen, lungs, this is CT-Scan. Her whole body is clear. Out of cancer as if it never have gotten there in the first place."

Tumayo si Jeremy at tumalon at saka dumapa sa simento at nagdasal.

Natutop ni Althea ang bibig. She cried silently habang hawak ang tiyan dahil parang sumasakit ang tahi niya sa pag-iyak niya. "Jeh..." tawag niya sa asawa.

Tumayo ito at niyakap siya ng mahigpit. His eyes were crying just like her.

Si Uncle Danny ay tumutulo din ang luha. "It is so hard to explain because we don't always see miracles like this. But your faith healed you both. And we all know that God is sovereign and faithful to those who have faith in Him." Yumuko ito at hinalikan si Althea sa noo kahit yakap pa siya ni Jeremy. "See you again next year for another baby."

Umalog ang balikat niya sa pinaghalong tawa at iyak. God indeed was faithful. And there was no one on earth like Him.

"I love you," Jeremy whispered again. There was no need for any other words.

"I love you too," she whispered back.

Six months after while David was offered to God in celebration within the congregation, Jeremy announced to the world that they were having another baby because Althea was three months on the way again.

Their happiness was without end.
