Nakita ni Lorry kung paanong nag-alala si Jeremy nang hindi ma-contact si Althea nang mga sumunod na araw so she intercede. "Problem?"

Tiningnan siya nito mula sa balkonahe ng mansion nila sa second floor. "Althea's number is invalid."

She swallowed and walked near him. Kunwari ay nag-isip siya. Patawarin siya ng Diyos pero ginagawa niya lang ito para na rin sa dalawa. "Baka lowbat."

Umiling ito. "It's invalid. It's either she cut the line or she changed her number."

Hindi siya nakakibo. She had been waiting for Althea to misscall her or text her the new number pero wala siyang natanggap na kahit ano mula dito. Pati siya tuloy ay kinabahan. She even called Smart Telecommunication to ask the new number for the old one but it wasn't given to her. The customer service said that the information is in private and they would not disclose it to anyone unless the owner advised them. Ngayon ay hindi niya rin alam ang gagawin niya. Natatakot siya na baka kung ano na lang din ang gawin ni Jeremy kapag hindi nito na-contact ang asawa. Dear Lord, what have I've done? "Do you know her home address?"

"No," mabilis na sagot ni Jeremy na inuulit-ulit tawagan ang dating number ni Althea. Naawa siya dito. There must be a way.

"What about where she works?"

"Hindi ko alam yung exact name ng company. Sabi niya lang ay marketing firm. I don't know the address or the phone number." Inihilamos nito ang kamay sa mukha. He looked lost and frustrated.

Ngayon ay gusto niyang magdamdam kay Althea. Maayos naman ang pag-uusap nila at panay ang opo nito sa suggestion niya. Wala namang masama sa gusto niyang mangyari. Lorry just wanted Althea to grow in her spiritual life before the woman could continue with her son. Makakabuti iyon sa dalawa. Hindi iyon para kay Jeremy lang. She wasn't being selfish. Lorry stared at her son. Parang gusto na nitong itapon ang cellphone. "Don't you have phone number of any of her friends?"

Napatingin ito sa kanya. "Ma, halos dalawang buwan pa lang kaming magkakilala at kung susumahin ay wala pang isang linggo na nakasama ko siya ng personal. I never really had a chance to ask about her friends. Hindi pa nga kami tapos mag-usap tungkol sa aming dalawa at sa faith niya."

Umiwas siya ng tingin. "It is that obvious, Jeremy, but you did marry her in haste."

Hinarap siya ng anak niya. "I don't know how I would appease your mind, Mama. But I am attracted to Althea from the first moment that I saw her. And the next incidents just draw us closer to each other. How would I not think that she is the woman for me? Sa loob ng isang buwan na magkahiwalay kami ay lagi siyang nasa isip ko. And if you are thinking that I am not safe with her or my faith is not safe with her, think again, Ma. Hindi masamang babae si Althea, infact, I am the first man in her life."

Lorry felt her son's agony but she couldn't accept that what she did was wrong. She was just after Jeremy's and Althea's best interest. She was a mother. That should be understandable.

"Why would God not accept her? Why wouldn't she be the chosen one like us? She is very obedient and I never had a hard time introducing Jesus to her. So sana, Ma, hindi mo na siya i-judge. Hindi magiging masamang asawa si Althea unless I'd provoke her at malabo iyan mangyari."

Hindi niya alam kung ano ang sasabihin. "What is it that you are planning to do now?"

"Tatapusin ko ang show dito at sa US na naka-schedule for one month duration dahil wala na akong magagawa diyan. And I hope that she would contact me anytime then or else, hahapin ko siya sa Manila at sa Canada."

Kumunot ang noo niya. "Canada?"

"Her sister and mother are there, though I doubt if she would go there, I'll use all my resources."

Gusto niyang pahirin ang noo kahit wala naman siyang pawis. "M-magpatulong ka sa Papa mo. He has people who could trace Althea."

Tumingin ito sa kawalan. "I don't know what's eating her up but I hope that it is not because you only showed her hostility during her stay with us."

"Kung mahal ka ni Althea Jeremy-"

"Don't give me that bullshit, Mama," he cut in. "Walang matinong taong sisiksik sa mga taong ayaw sa kanya. And you are certainly with me in everything. I just really hope that you are not the reason why she cut our communication because you are my mother and I love and respect you. But Althea is my life now and she is my present and future, the reason why I will leave your house with Papa."

Tinalikuran niya ang anak dahil hindi niya gustong makita nito ang iba't-ibang emosyon sa mukha niya. Lalo na ang nagbabantang luha sa mga mata niya. "Take my advice son. Go to your father and ask for his help."
