SAM OPENED HIS EYES. The very same white ceiling of Caroline's home stared back at him as he was laying in bed, thinking about the blonde and his powers. He knew he would have to live like a normal person for the rest of the week but at least he didn't feel like coughing up his lungs so he did have something to thank the blonde for.

He was broody and not talkative when Caroline told him they'd go to Stefan's to help the latter clean up after Elena's party. He was broody when Caroline cooked breakfast. He was broody when Caroline yelled at him for being so dull.

And he was definitely broody when she forced him to get into the car and drive to the Salvatore's. Sam had no wish to help her clean up all the trash from around the house, especially drink left over alcohol from the cups like Caroline did.

"Desperate times, I take it?" Klaus suddenly spoke from the entrance causing Sam to raise his eyes at the hybrid he wasn't able to read anymore. "You're alive, I see."

Caroline didn't look at Klaus but she did glance at Sam who only looked down again, brooding once again which made her roll her eyes. "What are you doing here?" Caroline asked the hybrid but she still didn't look at him.

"Not judging you, for starters, although if you are determined to get drunk, then perhaps I might recommend something a little more sanitary," Klaus was amused, Sam felt that and it annoyed him even more. Even more because he saw how Klaus looked at the blonde and didn't know why.

Caroline finally looked at Klaus as she drained another cup before throwing it defiantly into the bin she was carrying. Maintaining eye contact with Klaus. "Well, then. You showed me..." Klaus then glanced at Sam. "Why so bitter? More importantly, why are you with Caroline?"

Klaus had so many questions but Sam didn't know them. "Shouldn't you be out chasing Tyler to the ends of the earth?" he asked, hurting Caroline in the process. "Or are you after me now?"

Caroline continued collecting trash. She knew Sam was on a verge. He was dying if not Bonnie's herbs and Silas was somewhere lurking. Shane was dead, Bonnie was out of reach for some reason, so Sam had no answers. The topping of a very nasty cake was that he had no powers because of those herbs. "Depends," Klaus smirked at Sam who mused dully. "Do any of you happen to know where the young Brutus is?"

Caroline scoffed under her breath as she glanced at Klaus. "I know where he's not - with me. And he gave Matt the deed to the house, so he's gone for good."

Hope sparked inside Sam's mind as he furrowed his eyebrows. Klaus nodded as he walked further into the room, further towards Caroline as Sam watched him. "Tyler made it his life's mission to kill me. You can't hate me for driving him away."
