Today is take your kids to work day.
yes dick face that actually exists.
My dad warned me about it about a week and a half in advance but I still wasn't ready to get up this early.
I rolled over and put my alarm on snooze so I could get a little bit more sleep, as my dad was bursting in my room telling me it was time to get up.
FML.
Anyway, I got up, brushed my teeth, did my hair and makeup, then got dressed.
I looked hella cute haha.
But my mom was like panicking on this day for some reason. When I walked in looking pretty she way like "ohhhhhhhh my baby is growing up so much oh my goodness"
It was just really mushy and I thought she would burst into tears at any moment.
But on my way out of the door, she called to me "HAVE FUN WITH YOUR DAD KIDS"
and me and my brother trotted down the stairs to take the long ride to port Allen with my dad to go to his job.
He works at a huge chemical plant, but I can say that it was very interesting.
when we got there, I almost immediately got diabetes. Why you ask?
there was a huuuuuuge table full of snacks
(Pop tarts, rice crispies, honey buns, fruit snacks, juice boxes, muffins, POP TARTS)
I like grabbed two of everything and gave the classy anorexic white girl behind me the dirtiest look.
We went into the registration room, where they gave us an informational book (not a pamphlet, it was an actual big ass book), a backpack, a pen, a highlighter, and a visitors pass.
I had to sit down and watch this ten minute information video, but I already saw it like a year ago so I paid absolutely no attention.
after the video was over, everyone left the registration room, and went wherever they were supposed to go with their parents.
In me and my brothers case, we would actually have to sit in with my dad and watch him work.
"Sit in"
First of all, there is barely no sitting at that job.
He took us all around the chemical plant... Which is huge, and showed us everything he does every day.
He often fixes things and takes note of the pressures and amounts in the certain columns and valves he's assigned.
Sometimes he has emergencies, sometimes he doesn't.
What sucked is, me and my brother had to tag along with him in hard hats and protective goggles and ear muffs for seven hours and watch him do everything he does in LOUISIANA HEAT.
If it were the fall, that day would have been perfection.
But it wasn't fall and I was sweating off my mascara.
But everything else was perfect I sweaaaar.
My dad is so fun to be around and he showed is some cool stuff that he gets to do on his job. I met a lot of his coworkers, which was awkward, because every time I shook someone's hand I had to take my protective gloves back off and make eye contact.
like is said in previous chapters, his coworkers can be perverts.
Like, could you not with the stares pls
stop calling me babe, you're like 88
don't open that door for me that's my damn dad's job.
Anyway
We hung out in the control room a lot, which looks a lot like a Star Trek ship.
It controls the entire plant, so you could imagine the number of buttons and flashing lights everywhere
The control room makes me nervous, because what if something goes wrong, but you can't tell where the noise is coming from and what button to push?
Anyway, after hanging out in there and learning more stuffs.... my dad took me and my brother to subway.
I love subway
But I could tell that I was making the guy behind me angry cause it was lunch rush and I like a lot of vegetables and it takes a long time because the people behind the counter act like they're deaf after I get to "banana peppers"
... Anyway when we got back and we'd finished our lunch and had time to actually digest everything, our dad took us up on this 150ft scalpel, and can I just say
I nearly shat myself.
I'm not afraid of heights, it's just that the floors were this really weird fence pattern, and you could see straight through it to the bottom.
I couldn't look down.
And it's like, the closer we got to the top, the steeper the staircases got.
I hated it and I wanted to get down.
But i didn't wanna seem chicken so I just looks straight forward and forced myself to keep going.
We got up there and there was acid erosion all over the floor fence thingy...
Acid erosion as in, someone had a spill up there and there were huge holes in the floor all over the place surrounded by rust.
Again, I was turtling.
But my dad still wanted to take pictures for my mom.
So I had to stand right by some random machine that probably spat sulfuric acid and death
And smile for the damn camera.
After that was over, I was ready to go home. I really just didn't want to be there at all anymore cause I was like scared as hell at that point that my face could get destroyed by chemicals and no I don't want that.
But by now, it was about 3:30, and my dad could go home, because he got someone to come on for him for the rest of the day.
So when he brought us home, my brother decided it was a good idea to lock himself in the bathroom until 5 o damn clock
I needed to piss
When he finally came out, it was time for him to go to practice, and everyone in the house was ready to go.
I needed to piss
I tried, but my brother was like "I wouldn't go in there if I were you"
So I waited a while, and then went in to pee
but everyone in the house was rushing me and shit and I hate that.
I had to hurry up because I was supposed to run two miles that day around the track at the football field.
I did.
And I got Shemor to come up there and hang out with me when I was done excersizing. (I honestly do not know how to spell that... It's been a problem with me since like elementary)
Anyway, me and Shemor chilled and talked, and then it was time to pack our shit and go home.
But can I just say... Kohl has amazing will power.
He did amazing at practice and JESUS I'm so proud of my little brother.
Anyway, when I got home, as usual, everyone gets in the showers before I get the chance, so I gotta sit around sweaty for a half an hour until everyone else decides it's Kali's turn to shower.
When I finally got in, my mom was just finishing dinner... So again with this rushing me shit because everyone else was ready when I wasn't...
