Today I went to a pop-up theatre with my friends at York. It was a replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, open roof and all! I saw Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream, which is convenient because I am studying Macbeth in English and AMND in Drama.
We met up and went around a little Elizabethan village area in front of the theatre and got on a carousel, because why not?
We didn't have much time after that so it was pretty much, got off the carousel and watch Macbeth. They had screeching witches, dripping heads on spikes and I loved how all the Scottish warriors spoke in a thick Yorkshire accent 😂
On the way to Nandos (so we could eat between the two shows) we found a Clarks that my friends needed to go in for some school shoes. Me and mum happened upon a pair that were at a really good price and fit me well so I got some school shoes also.
After Nandos we quickly had to make our way back over to watch AMND. It was so hilarious, especially the actress playing Hermia. Her facial expressions were gold! She even bust her lip on stage and there was quite a lot of blood but she kept going, I suppose it was her job to do so.
Another interesting thing about AMND is that Oberon was played by a young woman and Titania old man. So in the scene where Titania falls in love with Bottom I think the whole audience was in stitches 🤣
Both shows were equally good, the set design, music, cast, costumes and the theatre itself was amazing, but I think the storyline was better in Macbeth and the visuals better in AMND.
However good it was though, I'm still really tired. I got in at 00:40 and could have slept in my clothes! Anyway, I'm going to finish now because I could collapse any second now 😅
See you lovelies tomorrow x
P.S. Oh, and luckily it didn't rain!
