Today was the day. The day things would change. Drew was leaving and there was nothing I could do to change it. I could feel that he was slipping away the moment I woke up. I laid in bed staring up at the ceiling. The house was quiet. Another reminder that Joseph was gone. I didn't want to get out of bed but I knew that I had to. I heard a knock on my door. "Sky honey, I cooked breakfast if you're hungry." my mom said trying to sound cheerful. I knew she wasn't. I threw the sheets off me and sat up in bed. Might as well get this over with.
When I sat down, no one said a word. My dad sipped his coffee and mom just looked down at her plate scraping her fork across it. Drew was nowhere in sight. ” Good morning,” I said quietly. My dad doesn't acknowledge me, but my mom smiles. We eat in silence.
An hour later, I heard Drew's footsteps on the stairs. I was in the living room, remote in my hand I froze. He looked at me and I couldn't read his expression. He doesn't look sad yet he wasn't happy either. I waited for him to say something, anything but instead he just takes a suit case and heads out the door. I followed him. There was a cab outside waiting for him. He was leaving this early? But why? I watched him hand his luggage to the cab driver who sloppily tossed it into the trunk.
” Drew!” I called out. He turned around. I walked towards him with my hands stuffed in my pocket. ” So you're just gonna leave without saying anything?” He was quiet for what seemed like forever.
” I dont think we should be together Sky.” he said finally speaking. My heart stopped beating...
