He's Coming Back?

I climbed into the passenger seat of my brother's car and took a deep breath as he started the engine.
"Put your seat belt on." he ordered in an annoying big brother tone. Normally I would have argued back but right now, at this moment I couldn't bring myself to speak. I nodded doing exactly what he told me to and then closed my eyes.
Drew was coming back. We'd found out about a week ago. It was a Friday and Joseph was in his room when he'd gotten the call. His room is right across from the bathroom so I overheard him talking on my way to take a shower. He was laying sideways on his bed. I assumed he was talking to his girlfriend which he'd been doing a lot of lately, but when I heard him say, " You're coming back?" it made me a little curious so I stood just outside of his door and listened just as any other little sister would do. " Yeah," he continued talking. " I can pick you up. Yeah okay I'll be there. Alright man." He hung up the phone and even though I didn't want him to know I was eavesdropping, I just had to know who he'd been talking to.

I walked into his room and flopped on his bed beside him.
"So.... Who was that?" I asked immediately. He sat up in his bed and rolled his eyes.
"How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from my door?" he said smacking me in the head.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah just tell me who was on the phone." He stood up rubbing his hands together.
"It was Drew, he wants me to pick him up at the airport next week." my brother told me.

I tried to hide the shock and excitement on my face as best I could. He was after all my brother's best friend not mine. I couldn't hide the curiosity in my voice though.
"Why's he coming back?" I asked. He shrugged. "He didn't say." I sighed. Whatever the reason being I was going to have to face him and hope he'd forgotten what happened two years ago, the night he left.

So now I sat in the car driving in silence with Joseph on my way to see Drew for the first time in awhile. I wondered if he looked the same. I wondered if he were taller. What I wondered most was would things be alright between us. I turned up the volume on the radio to realize it wasn't the radio, it was one of my brother's annoying mix CDs that I hated because the genre of music mixed up so much. I mean one minute you're listening to Lil Wayne and the next Green Day and then Kenny Chesney, it just wasn't right or at least not to me. I turned the music off and Joseph glared at me.
"Don't touch my radio." he said. I can only go so long without bickering with him so I stuck my tongue out and mimicked him.

"Don't touch my radio." I said.
He ignored me surprisingly. Maybe he was just excited to see Drew. I knew I was. We pulled up to the airport and I couldn't help but think about the first time I met him.
