It was the last school day before the Valentine's Day Dance and that meant that it was time for the students to hand out their Valentine's Day cards, whether they were anonymous or had names on them.
The student council had made handing out the cards easier by attaching a folder to the lockers of all of the students to act as a mailbox where the cards could be submitted.
Mr McMahon, not being a person who is particularly fond of love and many doubt that love is an expression that he can actually show, made it clear that the cards should be handed out before school started and they could be read at break or at lunch but not between classes. This left students feeling very rushed to get their cards submitted but nobody missed the deadline.
Natalya and Bayley chose to deliver their cards together and, even though she was not giving out any cards herself, Becky tagged along. The fact that Becky had not got anyone a card was a topic of discussion for the walk.
Bayley Martinez- "Are you sure there isn't anyone you want to give a card to, Becky?"
Becky Lynch- "There just isn't anyone that I want to give a card to. It isn't a big deal. At least I don't think it is."
Bayley Martinez- "But this is such a special time of year and you won't get a chance to get someone a Valentine's Day card until next year."
Natalya Neidhart- "You could even send one anonymously if you were too worried about someone not liking you back."
Becky Lynch- "If I like someone next year then I will do it but I will sit this year out. As I said, I don't think that it's a big deal. Sami and Sasha aren't handing any out."
Natalya Neidhart- "I probably shouldn't tell you guys this but I was with Sasha when she bought a card. I didn't find out who it was for but it was not from the lack of trying. I tried so hard to get to the bottom of it but that girl just wouldn't unzip her lips."
Becky Lynch- "Did you find out if she was putting her name on it?"
Natalya Neidhart- "She told me she wasn't putting her name on it so we might never find out."
Bayley Martinez- "She is so secretive about these things. It's so hard to get that kind of info out of her."
Becky Lynch- "Whereas Nattie is the opposite. I think the whole school knows who your card is going to."
Natalya Neidhart- "This is where my dreams come true. Dean is going to get my card, read it, fall in love with me and then we will live happily ever after. I have dreamt about this since I was eight and I can't wait for him to get the card and then I also can't wait for him to dance with me at the dance on Sunday."
Becky sighed.
Becky Lynch- "Nattie, not to be rude, I think you are being unrealistic in your dreams and fantasies."
Natalya was genuinely taken aback by the words that Becky had just uttered.
Natalya Neidhart- "You are going to need to be careful with what you say next, Becky."
Becky Lynch- "I mean that in the sense that boys like Dean don't like cards and dancing. He likes mud and motorbikes and watching people get badly hurt."
Bayley Martinez- "I have always noticed that he talks about the Jackass movies more than anyone else."
Natalya Neidhart- "I believe that he has a soft side that I can reach."
Becky Lynch- "That soft side must be buried really deep. Do you remember what he said to us when he was buying his ticket for the dance? He said that he has seen things that would make it hard for other people to ever smile again if they saw them."
Natalya Neidhart- "I will get through to him, don't worry."
Becky watched Nattie put her card in Dean's folder but missed who Bayley gave her card to.
Becky Lynch- "Damn it, Bayley, I wanted to see who yours was for."
Bayley Martinez- "I'm taking a leaf out of Sasha's book. It is staying a secret."
At break time, all of the students, instead of going to the cafeteria, went to their lockers to check out their cards.
As you can imagine, all of the couples got cards for each other and were openly showing their love for each other in the hallway. However, there were students that were single that were given cards. One if these students was Finn Balor.
Finn reached into his mailbox and pulled out a letter that he was not expecting. He had assumed that, because he was single, he wouldn't get a card.
He opened it and read it into himself.
Finn Balor- "To Finn, see you at the Valentine's Day Dance, Happy Valentine's Day, from Carmella."
Finn smiled as he put the card in his bag. When he looked up, Carmella walked past him with a swagger and mouthed to him.
Carmella Dale- "Sunday."
Finn nodded and mouthed back to Carmella.
Finn Balor- "Sunday."
Just along from Finn's locker, Dean and Seth were looking at cards that they got.
Seth Rollins- "Who is yours from?"
Dean Ambrose- "Let me open it and tell you."
Dean quickly opened up the letter.
Dean Ambrose- "It's just from Nattie."
Seth Rollins- "That is nice. She really likes you."
Dean Ambrose- "That doesn't mean I want to trade cards with her."
