"Can you do me a favour?" Adrian asks over the phone.

When everyone left on Sunday night, Jackson decided to reschedule his doctor appointment for earlier in the week. Jackson is off his crutches and walking freely.

Now being Friday, we are getting ready for school the following week.

"Yeah of course, what do you need?" I ask, stirring the pasta sauce I'm making for dinner.

"Can you look after Skye this weekend? Lucy and I are going away for our anniversary and her parents are out town and dads too busy." Jackson walks into the kitchen as Adrian is speaking. He sits on a stool from under the counter, listening to the conversation.

"Of course I can, did you want me to come to pick her up or are you dropping her off?" I ask as I open the pantry door to grab a packet of spaghetti.

"Do you mind if we come over for a bit, later?" I grab scissors from the drawer and stand at the counter cutting the packet and responding to Adrian.

"No, of course not. Just text me when you're leaving your place." I say pouring the pasta into the boiling hot water.

"Thanks, heaps, see you soon," he hangs up before I can even say goodbye.

"I take it, we're babysitting this weekend?" I stop stirring the pasta and turn around to face Jackson.

"Yeah, sorry, is that alright?" I ask, grabbing a strainer and placing it into the sink.

"Are you serious? I can't wait!" He exclaims. I can't help but laugh as I lift the saucepan with the pasta in it and pour it into the strainer to drain.

"Hey, don't get clucky on me, Jackie," I pull out two bowls from the cupboard under the counter and start plating.

"Ha, whatever."

"I'm joking, I can tell you'll be a great dad," I tell him as I finish plating.

"It's always been my dream to become a dad, to become a better dad than mine," Jackson grabs the two bowls from the counter and takes them into the living room.

I put the rest of the pasta into a bigger bowl, put it in the fridge and then the dirty saucepans into the sink to clean later. I grab two water bottles from the fridge and walk to the living room.

Jackson is sitting on the couch, staring intently at his phone.

"You're not like your dad and you never will be okay?" I say putting down the bottles on the coffee table.

Jackson smiles at me leaning in for a quick kiss.

"Let's play Mario Carts instead of watching TV,"

We spent the next hour and a bit laughing and goofing around before Adrian came.

I'm washing up the dishes as I hear the doorbell ring.

"I'll get it!" Jackson yells from the downstairs bathroom.

I place the last dish on the sink and wipe down any mess I've made. Drying my hands on the closest t-towel, I walk to the front door where Jackson is inviting Adrian with Skye in his arms and Lucy.

"Hey guys," I say, kissing both Adrian and Lucy in the cheek, hello. Jackson takes Skye's bags from Lucy and takes them upstairs.

"Do you guys want anything to drink or eat?" I ask, walking into the kitchen.
