Luna's POV

I sat in the hospital chair with my head buries in my hands and Axel's large hand comfortingly resting on my back.

A few of the students in the class were in the room too, waiting for Mr.Blade to wake up.
His forehead was bandaged and had blotchy patches of blood painting it. An IV stuck out from the back of his hand and a breathing mask covered his mouth.
Fable throwing him against the wall did a real number on him.
How did she even do that? She said she didn't have any abilities, unless her varying eye colors counts as one.

"Hey Kodiak," Daniel said.

Everyone turned around and Kodiak was standing there with Chance behind him. No one even noticed them stepping in.
"Hey guys," they both replied.

"We haven't seen you in a while, Chance," Olivia pointed out.

He just shrugged. "My parents didn't want me around the action."

I felt my phone buzz and I checked the message from my mom.
ɪ'ᴍ ɴᴏᴛ ʜᴏᴍᴇ, ɢᴇᴛ ɢʀᴏᴄᴇʀɪᴇs

I got up and everyone else followed.
"You guys can stay if you want," I said. "I just have to get food."

"It's okay," Jenny said back. "We've been here for some time anyways."

"Well, Kody and I are going to watch the teach for a bit longer. Maybe we can talk to him." Chance say in a free chair while Kody stole mine.

We all went our separate ways and I started towards the supermarket when I felt someone grab my shoulder. I whipped my head around and Axel was just looking straight ahead. We both walked at a steady pace towards the market.
It wasn't unusual, Axel and I have been basically everywhere with each other once the vacation was cancelled.

We decided to ignore the whole "dating thing." It was just something that came up last minute so I'd understand if he would just all of a sudden say something like that.

"So what's on the list?," Axel finally said as a cool breeze hit us when we entered the store.

I looked at him, puzzled. "Um, anything I guess."

My instincts told me to go to the instant food section but Axel went in another direction. I frowned but followed him anyways.

He was picking out scallions in the produce isle and I just went ahead and starting looking for the nicest cauliflower bunch.

He was walking through multiple isles so I just stood by the cashier until he came back. He finally came back with a shopping cart full of food that I couldn't even name.
I had my mom's credit card so I helped him load the items on the conveyer belt and gave my credit card to her.

For the small price that we had to pay, we ended up dragging bags back to his house, or rather I was dragging them and he was lifting them perfectly fine.

I set the bags on the table in the kitchen and propped my head up in my hand as Axel grabbed an apron and and started a flame on the stove.
I closed my eyes as I waited for him to be done cooking when he dropped the bag of scallions on my head.

"Get up, you fuckward. I'm not doing everything for you."

"Okay," I sighed as I brought the bag to the counter and slowly chopped up the vegetables to get them as even as possible.
