"You look frazzled," Luna told me as we packed up our stuff. "And your eyes are orange."

No matter how hard I tried to contain my emotions, my eyes would always show it.

"Yeah, I'm just a bit conflicted at the moment," I told her.

I quickly took a picture of what was on the board for homework and followed her outside. We headed towards the cafeteria.

"Chance was talking to us about his game plan last class," Luna said. "Maybe it might help you today when you make it to the battles."

"If," I corrected her. "And I have to head up to the library for something. You guys have lunch without me."

"Oh, okay." Luna nodded and pushed through the doors, waving at me. I smiled and started walking in the opposite direction.

Lying had become like my second language. But I would be willing to do it for as long as I lived if they didn't have to shoulder my burden.

I sat down at a computer desk at the library and started typing up the homework. It wasn't like I had anything better to do. I quickly typed up my draft for a book report and sent it to the teacher. I listened to the sound of someone else typing something on the keyboard and looked over my computer.

Axel. I haven't seen him in a while.

"Axel," I called. He looked up from his notebook, then looked back down as soon as we made we made eye contact. Rude.

I got off my seat and walked around the desks. He stared intently at the screen and I peered over his shoulder.

"Boo," I whispered. I could see his shoulders stiffen slightly and he closed all his tabs, turning around swiftly.

"What the fuck?"

"I hope you weren't doing something bad on the school computer, Axe."

He gathered his stuff and got up. "You're such a bitch."

"No need for insults," I said. I followed I haven't seen you in some time. Have you been skipping?"

"That's none of your business."

Axel was scary in some ways. His eyes were always looking through you and his aura was menacing. But so was mine, if I wanted it to be so he didn't scare me.

"Alright, I'll stop bothering you," I said turning the corner. "You might wanna talk with Luna though."

He turned back to look at me. "Why?"

I shrugged. "I think she'll be happy."

Luna and Axel hung out all the time so it was only an assumption that she would feel glad he came over. But then again, that wasn't my call.

I started walking towards the girls' bathroom when I heard chatter coming from the study's council office. There wasn't supposed to be a meeting at this time, otherwise there would have been a notice beforehand.

Intrigued, I leaned against the door. If I was caught, I could just say I was getting something for someone. Maybe I could use Jason as an excuse. I listened to the soft sounds of two male voices arguing with each other.

I couldn't make out what they were saying but I could make clear the voice. It was Jason.

I knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" he said.

"Jason, it's Fable. Can we talk?" I had a feeling he was thinking whether or not to let me in.

"Um, now's not a good time."

"But there's no meeting today. What's going on?" I opened the door and Jason quickly walked up to me and attempted to pull me out of the room.
