Luna's POV

I kept watching the door, wanting Fable to walk through the door. I wanted her to be okay. I couldn't believe how easy it was for Jason to manipulate me like that. And I blurted out that Fable was home alone.

She texted me before she came home that her brother had to deal with business and if I wanted to come over. Jason forced me to decline and went there himself. After he left, I was a crying mess.

I don't know why I went to school at that point.

I felt a large, hot hand on my back. The immense amount of heat coming from the hand gave away who it was.

"Hi Axel," I said, sitting up in my chair.

"I found her."

"Who?"

"The hero with the fire powers," he said. It was the first time I've seen him happy. It was discreet but I could see the corners of his mouth curving upwards.

"Great," I replied. "What are you going to do now?"

"I'm going to ask her how to control my aberrant."

I patted on his desk and he sat down. "Are you sure she knows how to do that? Maybe she doesn't have the same problem as you."

"But she must know something. I didnt do all this work to not ask her."

I sighed and waved my hand. "Okay, do as you wish."

In an instant, the room started flashing red and an alarm sounded. Mr.Blake got up for his sleepy state and ushered us out of the class.

Soon, the entire hallway was crammed with students confused about what's going on. The teachers led us down the stairs and into the basement and seated us down in rows. There were so many kids that many kids sat on the floor and crowded on the stage that was on the far right of the large room.

Some of the student council helped to clear out the boxes to leave more space for incoming kids. I kicked a few out the door and used my chair to scan the area.

Many teachers were guarding the door while others left the scene, taking a few of the older students with them.

I sat back down in my seat and turned to Axel. "What's going on?"

"I wouldn't know! But we can find out."

He grabbed my hand and we both hid in the crowd of seniors, following them out of the room. The teachers were listing off the students to go patrol the school grounds. I turned to Axel who pulled me into a corridor while the teachers listed them to a hall.

"I think we would be safer back in the auditorium," I told him.

"Superheroes are never safe. We have to see what's up."

We slipped past the other students and I pulled him back when I saw a familiar student.

"Is that Fable?"

Axel paused and pushed me down to see better. There was a girl sitting on the windowsill, her hair choppy and up to her shoulders. Her face was buried in her arms, which rested on her knees. But you could tell she was tall, and she wore the same sneakers everyday.

I peered around and, when the coast was clear, walked up to her.

"Fable?"

She jolted up and straightened herself when she saw it was me. Her eyes filled with relief; she took a while before jumping off the windowsill and walking towards us.

Her whole aura was off. Something happened, she really didn't seem to be
In the right mindset. I wasn't going to pry, though, in case it was worse than I was assuming.

"Why are you guys up here?"

Axel folded his arms across his chest. "One could ask the same to you."

She straightened her stature but her eyes hinted she was still troubled. Her grip against her arm tightened and I could see red underneath her nails.

Fable took a breath before marching off into one of the classrooms. Axel and I looked at each other and looked back at the open door. Axel was about to take a step when Fable poked her head out.

"You guys coming?"

I nodded and Axel quickly made his way towards the door when I noticed a shadow form the corner of my view. I turned and saw a figure fully cloaked in
black, floating by the window. Something in his hand glinted and I instinctively backed up.

"Guys..." I called out.

Fable peeked out again and looked towards my direction. Her face slowly morphed into confusion. She stared into the ruby eyes of the shadow hovering past the window.

"A vampire. I think we should let them in."

Axel looked at her with the same confusion. "What the hell?"

"We have to let him in." She motioned towards the locks on the large glass. "Luna, open it."

"No," I simply said. "Fable, what is going on with you?"

I heard a crack behind me and her eyes widened in fear. "Luna, unlock the window."

I focused on the huge crack cut into the glass. I was not moving near that thing.

"Axel..." I gasped.

He moved forward and pulled me back. The cracks started to grow across the other windows. I held my hand out, plam opened, in case I had to push back any flying debris.

Fable clicked her tongue and moved to the window. Axel grabbed her by the wrist and spun her to face him.

"Don't be so rash!"

"I'm not, you are!" she retaliated. "Would you rather have a giant hole where villains can easily have access to the school?"

She yanked her arm away and marched to the window. She gently unlocked the window and slowly pulled it open. The vampire glided inside and she hastily shut the glass.

"Okay, why are you here?" She glared at the shadow who only seemed to stare into the distance. "You've already caused me enough trouble."

"Fable, what are you talking about?"

I suddenly felt lightheaded and leaned into Axel's torso. I could see Fable struggling to hold on, as well.

"Fuck, Fable," Axel muttered, twisting his body so I rested in his arms. "I told you."

"You...didn't tell me-me shi.."

She collapsed to the ground and Axel followed.

My eyes fluttered shut as the entity covered the entire hall in darkness.

==================================

Wow wow wow! An update? By me? Shocker!

But seriously, trying to get back into writing. If I want to do regular updates again, I might have to cut the chapters shorter. They usually end up being 1000 words but maybe around 500-600 words might be more bearable for me.

Thanks for sticking around guys and hopefully I dont disappear for another 2 months!

Lots of luck and other stuff 🍀
