I swung my feet as I waited on Chance's bed for him to come back. Kody was going through the duffel bag and found a granola bar to snack on.
Looking at it made me realize how hungry I was going without food for days.

"Here," Kody said as he tossed me another bar.
I fumbled around with it before tearing it open and devouring it. I wasn't even embarrassed when Kody gave me a concerned look before going on his phone and taking smaller bites from his.

"So, do you know what you're going to do once you're on your own?," he yawned as he pulled the blanket on the floor with him closer.
I kicked off my shoes and placed them by his floor rug. I laid on his bed with my arms folded across my chest.

"Dunno. I'll find a way, I have relatives out of the country up north. Maybe they'll be willing to help."

"Getting out of the country won't be that easy," Kodiak stressed. "Border patrol and all that shit will be waiting. And you'll have to travel by public transport and directions aren't easy if you don't have a GPS. But all you did was punch a few people, why make you a fugitive?"

"As I said before," I responded. "They think I'm related to a notorious villain and of course they'd assume that I'm up to no good."

"I guess," Kody said. "But I feel it's not that simple."

I sighed. "Is anything?"

Chance finally came in with a tray holding teas and biscuits. He had also changed into more comfortable clothing and tossed some clothes at Kody.

"Get changed, I need to speak with Miss Duior here."

Kody nodded and got out of his corner of the room and walked out the door.

Chance lived in a large house, where all of the walls were mainly white except for the bedrooms and bathrooms. I felt out of place since their was a layer of dirt on my clothes and  my skin was getting irritated and red from wearing them.

His bedroom was a light blue with a king size bed by the middle of the wall and two dark oak bedside tables on either side. His desk was on the other side and a small balcony looked over a flower garden and part of the neighboring backyard. A clock hung on the wall that red 5:30. It was still dark out.

I got up and sat on one chair while Chance sat on the other and placed the tea tray in between us. I picked up one of the plastic cups and sipped through the straw as he looked for something through his phone.
"Look at this," he finally spoke as he handed me his phone.

I played the video on the screen and it was a women with black, wavy hair and a black jump suit that was had vines with thorns spun on every appendage on her body.
"Hey sweetie, just wanted to let you know that my door is always open. I can get you out of this mess but you have to do a teeny little favor for me. If you're interested, you know where to go?"

The video ended and I massaged my temples. "Well I'm fucked, aren't I?"

Chance picked up a tart and handed it to me. "Look, you know we can't hide you here. The police will find out, the superheroes will find out, the super villains will find out. If you really know Thorn personally, then maybe she's your best chance at getting help."

"Can anyone else see the video?" I shoved the cookie in my mouth and drank the tea obnoxiously. I was not in the mood to keep watch of my manners.

He shook his head. "The video is encrypted. You can only see it through my phone."

"And how the fuck does she know I'm staying with you? Someone of the Villain Organization must have been following us or something."

Kody waltzed back into the room and grabbed the chair from Chance's desk to sit on. "What did I miss?"
