Lorenzo.
"Did you have fun?" I asked Bri as I strapped her in her carseat. Bri's birthday was in a couple of days, and I wasn't going to be here to celebrate. I had a business trip to New York, so I decided to spoil her while I was still here.
"Lorraine!" She shouted, making me freeze. "Who?"
"Lorraine!" She shouted once again. "Where's Lorraine?" I asked. "With daddy." She giggled. I felt my body heat rise, making me mad. I tried to calm down because I knew it could always be a different Lorraine. I grew anxious just to get back home.
I walked to the drivers side and hopped in, pulling out of the parking lot. As I was driving, I slowly realized it couldn't possibly be her. She had been gone for so long... And Bri is only two, she could be saying anything.
I was going to confront Chresanto and ask why didn't he tell me he had a girlfriend. "Chresanto!" I yelled while walking in with Bri and all of her things. I heard a lot of noise, and I thought he may have been in the middle of something.
I heard him walking downsteps, but it sounded like more than one person. Once he got to the bottom of the steps, he was holding someone, I couldn't see her considering her face was hidden behind him.
"Who's that, your girlfriend?" I asked standing up. "Nope." He said shaking his head. "Then who is it?"
He sighed, and pulled her to the front. She tried to hide, but Chresanto kept her hands behind her back. Once I knew who it was, I was hurt, angry, shocked... mixed emotions. "Lorraine?" I asked, my throat went dry.
I just couldn't believe it was her, after almost eight months. She slowly looked at me, than looked away. "You don't have anything to say?" I asked raising my voice.
"After eight fucking months you don't have anything to say?" I asked again. Chresanto let go of her and pushed her towards me. I stepped backwards, to be honest, I didn't want anything to do with her at the moment.
"I'm sorry." She whispered. "That's it, your sorry?" I waited for another answer, until she said, "I don't have anything else to say." She whispered again.
"I have a lot of shit to say! Where the fuck did you go? Why did you leave, knowing that I had no one? Do you want me die? I almost committed suicide. You were gone for eight months, I was so fucking depressed. I always wondered, where you were, if you were okay okay, if you were even alive." I had lowered my voice, I didn't need Bri hearing any of this.
I saw my brothers face drop when I mentioned the suicide. None of my family knew about my past, when I was living alone, that man that was always so depressed. I don't want any of them to know either, what's in the past, stays in the past.
"I have something to say." Chresanto spoke up. "I found Lorraine back in November, and I have been hiding her ever since." He said quietly.
"I tried to convince her to come talk to you, but she always thought that you wouldn't forgive her for leaving you."
I looked Lorraine, who was trying to avoid the situation. I couldn't handle this, I wanted to leave and never come back. That didn't even matter to me anymore. "I hope you guys are happy. I never want to see the both of you ever again." I said walking to the living room to tell Bri goodbye.
"Uncle Zo gotta go, okay?" I hugged Bri. "You coming back?" She asked wrapping her arms around my neck. "Yeah, I'll come see you before I leave. I love you Bri." I hugged her tight one last time and kissed her cheek.
I stood up straight and fixed my suit. I walked to my car and I could hear Chresanto calling my name, but I never stopped. I wasn't going to ignore him forever, I couldn't blame him for any of this. He never knew about Lorraine, but I was angry that he would hide her for so long.
Should I keep the book going, or should I end it?
Excuse all mistakes.
