I speed-walked through the halls of the monestry excitedly, heading towards the training yard with an amused Wu and an equally excited Garmadon, who tried his hardest to stay mature and keep his composure.
I'd gotten into a white training gi, and the two elderly men were to train me enough so I could help with the innevitable final battle, because I refused to be left out of it while everyone else was helpful.
Misako was cooking dinner and the others were off on a mission to get Lloyd back, and although I was ecstatic to be able to finally help out, I was extremely worried for my friends... Mostly Lloyd.
I trotted into the courtyard and turned to the two men with a giddy smile. "What first?!"
"Calming down," Wu stated as his brother chuckled.
I pouted, slumping forward and dangling my arms. "But I don't wanna! Just teach me, please!"
"You're going to open up your stitches if you don't chill out." Garmadon warned with raised eyebrows.
Amusement glinted in Wu's eyes as he looked me over. "You shouldn't be so excited, Y/N."
I tilted my head, frowning in confusuon. "Why's that?"
"Because you're really not going to like this very much at all." Garmadon informed.
💚
He was right. I hated it. I hated every moment of it. It felt like my limbs were going to fall off, and that was only for the things I could do without opening my stitches! It's going to be hell when I can train properly. Thank God Misako called us in to eat, otherwise I would've died of exhaustion.
However, half way through the meal, Skylor called me.
Excusing myself from the table, I moved into the hallway before answering the call.
"Hello?" I chirped.
"Y/N!" Skylor yelled through the phone, causing me to jumped and hold the device away from my face. "I need a favor!"
"Uh-huh?" I replied, rubbing my ear and pulling the phone back causiously to my other ear.
"Remember how I basically hired you the other week for my shop?" She asked quieter.
I nodded before realizing she couldn't see me. "Yeah?"
"Well, I need you to start work next week!" She chirped.
"What? Next week?" I gasped, running a hand through my hair. "But I haven't got any training-"
"I'll teach you tomorrow! Don't worry, we got this!"
"T-tomorrow?!" But I'm so sore now!
💚
The bell above the door rang as I stepped into the shop, the familiar aromas flooding my nose.
Behind the front counter, Skylor smiled sweetly at me. "Y/N!"
I smiled back, glancing around for the others instinctively before remembering the situation everyone was in.
I frowned slightly, looking back over at the orange haired girl as she made her way over with an apron. I didn't miss the stressed look on her face, desperately trying to be covered by her cheeriness.
I gave her a sympathetic look. I knew what she was going through, Kai was her boyfriend, and she was worried about him and her other friends. I knew how that felt alright, but maybe I was a little worse off.
Not that I could really drop it on everyone that hey, me and Lloyd have been a thing for like four weeks but we've both been too socially awkward to tell anyone and now he's possessed by an evil ghost who wants to destroy Ninjago and I'm just a tad be dEpReSsEd.
No, I couldn't drop it on everyone. It'd only make them pitty me, and pitty was the last thing I needed to be aware of with all of my stress. Not to mention I didn't want anyone to worry about me any more then they already were.
I took the offered apron from Skylor with a small smile. She must've picked up on my thoughts. Placing a gentle hand on my shoulder, she let her dispair show a little.
"It's okay," She reasured in a small voice. "I-I'm sure they'll be fine."
I gave a small nod before looking down at myself. I couldn't help but to think, but what if they won't?
Skylor cleared her throat after a short while, gaining my attention again. "So, how much do you know about waitressing, baristering, and taking orders?"
💚
I was best at baristering. Let's just say, I was a little too clumsy around tables and chairs, and my memory wasn't quite cut out for taking multiple orders.
So, I made coffees.
It wasn't all that hard, once I got the hang of it all, it quickly became something like second nature.
Calling out the more unique names was probably one of the harder parts of the job, so I often left it to the other barister, Holly.
"Hot chocolate for, uh, Melayna, is it?" The tanned girl called, holding up the cup and looking around.
A cute girl with a pink dress bounded forward, her long, curly, deep chocolate brown locks bouncing over her shoulders as she made her way forward. She grinned at Holly, taking the cup from her hand.
"Thank you!" The customer popped sweetly, taking a sip from her drink.
"You're very welcome." Holly replied, smiling back. "Did I say your name right?"
Melayna nodded, her hazel eyes sparkling with excitement. I got the feeling that she was a very joyous person. I instantly liked her. "Yes, yes!"
"Thank goodness," Holly sighed in releif, before smiling at her customer again. "Please come again!"
"Oh, I will!" Melayna assured, sending a small wave towards the dark haired barister before turning to leave.
Just as I finished steaming the milk for a cappuccino, Skylor appeared out of nowhere and grabbed my arm.
"Y/N! You need to come with me!" She stressed.
"Wha-" I turned to protest, I still had a coffee to make, but the look on my friend's face took the words out of me.
Her eyes brimmed with tears, yet sparkled with relief. She nervously gnawed on her bottom lip, tugging on my arm.
Without a word, I handed the steamed milk to Holly before allowing Skylor to lead me out to the back.
"What is it?" I asked, watching as Skylor let a few tears slide down her face.
"I just got a call," She hickupped, turning to me with a large smile. "I-it's the others."
"What about them? Are they okay? Did they-"
She cut me off, laughing and nodding franticly. "They're all fine!" She reasured, wiping her tears away. "They even got Lloyd back!"
Instantly, my tears started to flow as well. I laughed in disbelief as the salty droplets of relief flowed down my face. Leaning back against the wall, I slid down and hugged my knees, shaking in joy and relief. Skylor sat down beside me and gave me a side hug.
They got Lloyd back. He's going to be okay.
Dropping my head onto Skylor's, I allowed my tears to run for as long as they needed to. And she did the same.
We were both so releaved. Sure, the battle was far from over, but at least our friends - all of them - were okay for now.
