"So how about you tell me what happened?" Cory had been asking since breakfast started. Everyone was so quiet you could hear the click of utensils as they met the plate. On the other hand the pancakes were so delicious it was easy to eat as the tension engulfed the room.

"Dad I already told you I don't want to talk about it." Riley said.

I glanced over studying her. That was the first time she had given him a response. Maybe he was close to her breaking point.

"How can you expect me to let this go you came home crying and went straight to your room I gave you space now I need answers." Cory put down his fork looking in Riley's direction and then meeting Topanga's loving stare. It was obvious they were both just worried about her. What was the worst thing that could happen? Why didn't Riley just tell her parents what was bothering her?

"It's not important anymore," Riley's eyes met mine. I raised an eyebrow wondering what exactly was going through her mind.

"Fine," Cory huffed turning towards me, "Maya if I could have a word with you."

I grabbed my cup and swallowed down the remainder of the orange juice. All I could do was nod in response and stand up to follow after him. We made our way into the living room out of ear shot of where the rest of his family was sitting.

"Can you tell me what happened?" His eyes looked desperate.

"I dont know the last time I saw her she seemed to be enjoying herself," my memories flashed back to her and Lucas slow dancing close together, "-with Lucas."

His nostrils flared and his arms crossed as he sunk deeper in the arm chair he was sitting in. He looked furious at the mention of Lucas.

"I'm sorry but when someone hurts my daughter I tend to get well-" he shrugged relaxing from his tense pose.

"I can tell," I said quietly hoping it didn't sound like an insult.

"So something happens between her and Lucas, how do you fit into all of this? How do you end up in Riley's room?" His hands interlock and cover his face a bit. I can tell he's studying my every movement.

"Honestly I have no idea what happened between them I left early after," I couldn't believe they kissed, "-sorry. I left early and while I was driving Riley texted me and she wanted to talk." That was pretty much what happened with some minor details taken out.

"So Riley texts you and your first instinct was to sneak into my home and spend the night with her behind locked doors?" His hands moved down but his gaze stayed on me. I felt like I was being interrogated but I tried to keep my cool.

"When you say it like that it sounds weird Mr. Matthews." I laughed a little bit it didn't seem to make him any less tense. "She needed me as a friend and I came." I added.

"If I find out that any funny business happened under my roof-" he said getting a little too loud.

"Dad stop you're so embarrassing!" Riley appeared from behind the wall. She walked over to where I was sitting and glared at her father.

"What did I tell you about eavesdropping?" He stood to meet her glare looking down because of their height difference. I started feeling weird being the only one sitting.

"I don't care! Maya came because I asked her to nothing else happened other than us talking." I could see her cheeks flush a little and I blushed wondering if she was thinking about us kissing.
