*Riley's POV*
"Congrats Riley your first high school party!" Farkle was ecstatic when our parents said they'd be going out of town this week and that they were leaving me in charge. "Aren't you excited?"
"Aren't you worried about Maya?" He gave me a sad smile putting his hands on my shoulders. She hasnt been back since our art class a couple days ago and even if we weren't friends I was worried.
"She's coming by tonight. I learned this a long time ago so let me share it with you," I shrugged his hands off but kept listening. "The best thing for Maya is space so when she needs it I let her have it." That can't be healthy at all.
"Farkle sorry to say but you're stupid!" I yell back at him punching his shoulder. "It might seem like that's what she needs but it's not."
"I think after all these years of being her best friend I know her a little better than you Riles." I cringed at the nickname that Maya would use for me. It wasn't the same coming out of my brothers mouth. It wasn't hard to realize how much I missed seeing her, I had to know if she was okay.
"Come on forget about it and let's get everything ready." I was leaned against the wall biting my lips in thought when Farkle handed me some cups to put in the kitchen. I guess keeping myself busy was a nice distraction. I would handle Maya later at the party.
After hours of setting things up and hiding all the valuable and breakable items it finally hit me what was about to happen. "Farkle mom and dad are going to be pissed if they find out."
"They won't. Auggie is spending the night at Ava's and we will be here making sure nothing gets out of hand." He smiled looking so relaxed like he had done this before. Looking back through my memories I remember Farkle suggesting I go over to friends houses to have sleepovers when our parents were out of town. That sly little fox.
"Okay but if they do I'm playing the innocent card." I smile sweetly and twirl around skipping over to the stairs. Time to get ready.
I changed into a dress and matched it with a leather jacket making me feel a little edgy. I felt like Maya, daring, courageous, and beautiful. Looking back at the mirror I could see my soft blush. I wasn't sure if I could go through with this. It was obvious Maya had a problem with Lucas and it was obvious Lucas didn't like Maya all that much either. But if I liked Lucas why did I feel like I cared for Maya more. Obviously, the feelings I feel for them both are different. At least, that's what I was going to tell myself and at least tonight I could just focus on Maya and maybe everything will become clearer after that.
Farkle barged in standing at the bathroom door his mouth gaping open. "No no no no no!"
"Oh hush and close your mouth." I rolled my eyes as I got to work on some light makeup.
"No no no no no-"
"If you can't say anything but no get out now." I focused as I put mascara on making sure not to poke my eye out.
"You need to get into something else." Farkle went into my closet ruffling through drawers.
"And what would you suggest big brother." Finishing my makeup I walk out into my bedroom and sit on my bay window.
"Sweats and a t-shirt." He tossed a pair at me smiling.
"You're ridiculous."
