The point was proven. Daemon had been the one who had broken in. He also had been the one to push me to the floor. Saved me...?!  He saved me! The light and the pipe were now against Daemon's body.

He stood upright, as if not effected by it. "I knew it! I knew you were.... Something else.  Some sort of beastly creature.....  Like us..., " I said. He stared at me, in confusion.

He jolted forward, towards me and I yelped. He seemed to be stuck.  The pipe! The pipe was inside of his flesh and the light was draping above his head,  swaying against the top of his head. "Watch out, boob-head, " I shouted. He smirked slightly at my words.  I believe that was one of the first realest smiles I'd ever seen him make in all the time I've known him.

I began to feel a certain distinguishing pain in my hand and when I looked at it I saw it.  I saw the blood surrounding the hole from what appeared to be a large needle.  I winced at the pain. Life had slipped through my fingers once before and I nearly lost it all for something I shouldn't have, a girl. The only girl I had come to love. Lena.  Lena was a very different soul with very different characteristics to her that made her who she was,  an amazingly kind girl.

At the age of seventeen,  she died.  I had been the cause of it too.  Never forgave myself since that day.  Since then,  I have allowed myself never to get too attached to another. Lena's death had broken me.  Scared me.

I hardly slept for several months afterwards, for all I could see was her.  Lena.  Blaming me.  Accusing me of having done nothing to protect her.  I had thought it best that we hadn't talked,  but it had been taken to literal.  Too far.

I knew what I needed to do for Wynrie,  what I didn't do for Lena.... Watch over her.  Protect her from harm.  From the Embers brothers.  The next day, I had gotten to school earlier than usual.  I needed to see Wynrie before classes began so I sent her a text asking her to meet me at the school around six forty-five.

So far, nothing had come of it.  She hadn't shown. I saw her in the distance. She was approaching the spot where I had been sitting outside the school's front doors.  "What's this about? How bad is it," she asked.  I wasn't quite sure how to begin this conversation.

"Wynrie, I need you to understand that what I'm saying is real.  It's happening. And you need to let me do my job here.  It's going to be uncomfortable and awkward for a bit,  but this is for your safety," I said. "Your life is in horrible danger.  The Embers brothers are the ones who've come and asked me to watch over you.  To protect you from the harm that's approaching near. They haven't given me full details yet,  but from what I can tell,  it's deadly and there may be no stopping it," I added.

The look of shock on her sweet face was more than enough for me.  I knew that was all I needed to say.  "Oh my..  Of course I'll cooperate. Whatever helps end this,  I'll do my best to help, " She replied. She was so beautiful. She really was.
