Death sentence was easier sometimes than living in such a horrible place in life. Daemon felt a change in Wynrie and he disliked it so very much. He hoped she would talk to him if she needed somebody to talk to. He was always going to be there for her. Even if he had to pretend he still had normal feelings again to do so.
He grabbed her by her legs and hoisted her up onto his back and started to run faster. He jumped high into the trees to hide from the Fallen Ones. Jumping through the trees was something he'd found comforting for him. He felt like nothing and no one could tear him down if he was at a higher advantage than they were.
His cell went off and he had Wynrie answer it. "Hello, this is Daemon," she said, making a deep man voice. He tried so hard not to chuckle at her attempt at his voice but he just couldn't help it. It was kind of funny. As soon as she hung up the phone she went dead silent.
"Wynrie, what's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything," he asked. "You.. You lied. Your a liar! You told me you weren't in cahoots with my brother. That Zeb had nothing to do with you," she said, her voice cracking again.
He hated the fact that she had to find out this way. "It's not what you think, okay? Please, just let me explain this, " he begged. "I have his number and am doing some thing with him only because I want him to leave you alone. Wynrie, I need to know... That baby you're carrying.. Is it his, " Daemon barked out.
She was hoping she'd never have to tell him the truth. " That's not important right now. What's important is-" "Wynrie, this is important because they've come for that baby. That thing inside of you, " he interrupted. She didn't really realize how serious this was until now. She thought it was all just a game.
He really was her dream King. She realized she must've been his true dream Queen then as well. He wouldn't be this truthful with her if he hadn't some feelings for her that were more than friends. And she knew he realized it too.
"I need to get you to safety, Wynrie. I wasn't trying to hurt you or play you.. I just.. This needs to end. I am going to end it when I see him next. That's why he called. We had a meeting for a few night from now and he was probably checking to see if it was still going on," he said, sorrowfully. She felt bad for what she'd just done, but she herself was scared. Scared that he was lying and he was trying to get her killed by Zeb.
"I.. I'm sorry Daemon. I just figured that if you were talking to him that you were working with him. I know he plans to hurt me. I know he knows I've told people about.. Things. He swore he'd kill me if anyone ever knew the truth. I was hoping it wasn't true. That you weren't helping him. Now, I do know. You're good, " she said, voice breaking into crying. Tears hit the back of Daemon's shirt and she gripped him tighter. He knew what he really needed to do.
He understood her pain. Understood the constant fear. He just didn't understand why she, just like everyone else he'd met, was trying to make him a bad guy. I mean, yeah, sure he was not human but that doesn't mean a damn thing. "I'll return his cell myself later, " he said, in a low growly voice. He was becoming angry. Bad things often happened when he became angered.
As soon as they got to Daemon's house, Wynrie ran inside quicker than he could track. The sound of his steel-toes hitting the entry way of the from door startled Wynrie. She knew it was he who was there but she ran and hid behind the door. Daemon entered the house and looked around to see if he could spot her. He couldn't (of course) and he started to worry that she had found someway to escape. That angered him.
He slammed the door shut behind him and Wynrie jumped and cried out. Daemon charged over to her and began checking her for injuries. He didn't find any (obviously). He felt less worried for her because he knew she was safer with him than his brother. And there was no way in hell he was leaving her with Embrielle. Fuck that.
He heard the sound of footsteps coming from upstairs somewhere. "Stay here and be quiet until you know it's safe to move around, " his voice carrying that serious tone to it. She kept thinking, "them hoes must really lust after him alot". Daemon silently stalked the upstairs bedroom doors and he silently opened all of them. Empty. What could that sound have been then?
A sudden tap on his shoulder made him jump and he saw her. Embrielle. "Dammit Emby! You mother- what are you doing here? I thought we told you it wasn't safe for you here anymore and to go to the secret spot, " he said. "You did but I had to come back. For her. That girl downstairs. She needs my help too. It's the only way she'll live. You must understand, right," she replied. He couldn't be serious with her about most things and she knew that was a weakness if his.
Things felt so different and she hated it. She felt like it was a false reality that was forced down her throat often at times. It caused her to feel like she fucked up everything and that made her feel worse. It was just this huge nightmare. She felt like Jeremy Delle, helpless. Hopeless. Money couldn't buy her anything and it never could.
She knew her scars all too well and she remembered every one and why she got them. "Look, Daemon, I love you but she could love you if you made it so. If you showed her the real you. The you I know and love. Dear brother, you need this. You need her," Embrielle said. He couldn't help but actually consider it. Couldn't help but think she could be right. They could love each other. They heard a scream from downstairs. Wynrie!
They rushed down the stairs and found that she was laying on the carpeted floor and she seemed to be uncons- no, she was.. Bleeding! Daemon ran over to her side and whispered in her ear, " You can't.. Please don't die. I need you. I'm supposed to be the one to protect you. The one to die.. Your worth more than anything else I've ever come in contact with." She moaned in pain. Her lashes slightly fluttered.
"Dae.. Daemon. I need your help. You can't let me go this way. It's not how it's supposed to happen, I know that. I know how I'm supposed to go already and that is no where near how. I need you. Please..-" she said. Her voice trembled at those last words. That last plea. She was.. Near death.
